Erich Dale Huber

September 20, 1942 — April 14, 2024

Kaysville, Utah

Born September 20, 1942.

Married, April 24, 1963

Erich was the middle of three children, born to Florence and Erich Walter Huber (both deceased). Older brother Walter M (Mickey) (deceased) and younger sister Bonnie H. Hahn. Raised in Union, New Jersey, the family moved to Florida in 1955 where Florence founded the Huber Restorium, a nursing home.

Erich was interested in electronics and engineering in high school. He met his wife (deceased) at junior college, and convinced her to marry him in 1963. He later graduated in Electrical Engineering from Florida University.

In 1966 Erich discovered computer programming and that became a big part of his life for the next 35 years. Erich and Cherie converted to the Mormon church in 1968 after a visit to Utah for work. In 1970, Erich moved him and his small family to Bountiful, Utah, then later to Centerville, Utah where they lived until 2001.

Erich was interested in flying small airplanes, real estate, Amway, personalogy, and traveling around the US with his growing family. During the summers the family would travel around the United States, first in a 1969 VW van and then in a 1981 Pace Arrow.

In 1983 after his last child was born, Erich retired from the "rat race" and drove the entire family in the Motorhome to Florida so his wife could tend to her parents. The children got to know their extended family better and attended school until the family returned to Utah the following year.

In 1985 Erich bought his first PC computer and started a consulting business. For the next 15 years he surrounded himself with PC computers and programming. Many of his children grew up taking apart computers and watching Erich wire and rewire the house with computers, cameras, beepers, speakers, and microphones. He worked with a company that installed roomsafes and electronic minibars into hotels until 2000.

In 2000, Erich built their dream house in Kaysville, Utah and moved in 2001. For the next several years Erich and Cherie hosted their children and their grandchildren during the holidays. They also started traveling extensively, something both of them enjoyed. They would travel to London, Paris, Korea, Mexico (many times), Rio and the Amazon River, the Caribbean islands, Costa Rica, as well as Cuba until Cherie's health kept them at home. Erich cared for his wife until her death last year.

Erich is survived by eight children, twenty-eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
