Elias Larsen Miller

September 25, 1939 — May 26, 2024

Elias Miller, age 84, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, May 26th, 2024. Elias was born on a farm in Weston, ID, to Otto and Attella Larsen Miller, on Sept 25, 1939, the youngest of 10 children and was the last surviving child. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers: Volmer, Ariel, Stephen, Don, Waldo, Rollo, Lynn and his 2 sisters: Naomi and Peggy.

He spent his youth in Ogden, UT, where he graduated from Weber High School. Elias loved horses, cows and ranching and spent 2 memorable summers sleeping under the stars, pushing cattle and fixing fence for a rancher in Wyoming. He loved rodeo and competed in both bare-back bronc riding and bull-riding before his marriage to Joyce Cheney in 1961. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan, UT Temple, on November 17th.  Elias is survived by his wife, Joyce, their 7 children: Kristy Pymm (John), Jozet Richardson Hulley, Jennifer Higby (Lani), Mandy Lagerstrom (Ron), Carrie Pinkelman, Doug Miller (Shannon) and Celeste Davis (Matt); also survived by 40 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild!

Elias and Joyce started their family in San Francisco, CA, then moved to Kaysville, UT. They raised their children primarily in West Bountiful and Centerville, UT with their final home being in Farmington, UT.

Professionally, Elias was a customer engineer for IBM for 36 years. He primarily serviced computers & check sorters for large banks in the SLC area. He was well-known for his work-ethic, pleasant banter and honesty with clients and co-workers alike.

After retirement, Elias and Joyce served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, beginning with their call to Malaysia (Singapore Mission), then Taipei, Taiwan and LaPine, Oregon. They also enjoyed multiple years of service in the Bountiful Temple from its inception and between mission calls.
