Elaine Hart

Elaine Hart, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, second mother to many, and disciple of Jesus Christ, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on August 9, 2026.

Elaine was born to William Stephen Hart and Lola Belle Thurgood on October 22, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Bountiful with her two siblings, Pam and Dennis. Her life was centered around family, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her cousins. She gave herself the job of keeping everyone in line, and her brother gave her the nickname Tiger, which stuck for years.

As a child, her Grandma Susie taught her to play the piano. She used this talent throughout her life to serve family, friends, and in church callings. She tried very hard to pass this talent on to her nieces, and they all wish they would've listened when she was sitting by them for hours on the piano bench. She was a talented seamstress, and made many dance costumes, Halloween costumes, or anything else her nieces requested. She even got an A on her niece Kelsie's pajamas for her 8th grade home economics class. Throughout her life, she had a love for sports. In her youth, she loved playing softball, basketball, and volleyball with her sister and friends. Later, she loved cheering on the BYU cougars in anything they played, and she always had to have her lucky earrings.

As much as she loved her Cougars, her greatest love was supporting her four nieces, their children and their grandchildren at an endless number of dance and sporting events. She was each of their biggest fans. Even after she lost her vision, when her family would ask if she wanted to go to a niece or nephew's dance competition or sports game, she would say, "I may not be able to see, but they need to know I'm there." It did not have to be a special event for her to be there; each of these children knew they could always count on Aunt Laney.

Elaine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church callings, particularly the nursery, for decades, and every child felt her love. Although she wasn't blessed with a family of her own, she had an unwavering faith in Heavenly Father's plan for her, and she found so much joy in serving others. The impact she had cannot be measured. We hope she knows now how much she mattered to us all.

Elaine is survived by her brother, Dennis John Hart, sister, Pamela Sue (Steven) Jordan; nieces Laurie (Troy) Solomon, Stephanie (Dan) Dygert, Brittanie (Shaun) Boulter, and Kelsie (Kyler) Kendall; 17 great-nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Stephen and Lola Belle Hart.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Bountiful 10th Ward chapel; located at 1145 North 200 East, Bountiful, UT 84010. There will be a visitation time from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
