Gone Doing Family History Work
Edwin (Ted) Sessions Case was born to Edwin and Dorothy Case on October 30, 1951, which was on his grandfather, Edwin H Case’s 54th birthday. Ted was preceded in death by his wonderful mother and father, dear step mother Colleen, whom Dad married after mom’s passing, and his older brother, Leland and anyone else whose address is the cemetery. (I did not want anyone to feel left out!)
Ted attended Stoker, Bountiful, Jr., Bountiful High, BYU, Weber, UVSC, and the U of U. His greatest wish would have been to have graduated from more than high school. Learning was a constant quest. Once, when he lost possession of his books, his first purchase was another set of scriptures, and then a dictionary.
Ted would tell you he married the most wonderful woman in the world on January 7, 2005 in the Bountiful Temple, DaLynn Blanchard. She is his eternal companion who took him and nursed his health, knowing he had MS before they married and even seeing his condition worsen while they courted. Together, they loved family and friends as a couple. They were often seen in the Bountiful Temple together.
Ted loved doing Family History work. He was made a Seventy in the seventies, served as a counselor in a couple of bishoprics, ward executive secretary, ward mission leader, taught almost everything in the Sunday School, including Gospel Doctrine for three straight years, temple preparation classes for over two decades, and his lastest calling was Gospel Doctrine teacher at the North Canyon Care Center where he spend the past two years. His favorite calling was always as a Primary teacher, teaching children. Children are our heritage and he love being in their presence.
In grade school, he learned to save. He filled up one of those blue Lincoln penny books, then thought, the only safe place to keep his money was in the bank so he took all the pennies out of their holes and deposited them in the bank. He might have gotten that attribute from his Grandpa Sessions, who sat outside the old Bountiful State Bank and got the first savings account on the first day they opened. Later Grandpa gave him that #1 account because he felt Ted could be trusted with it.
In Jr High, Ted told a joke, laughed, and discovered his voice. His mom, had been trying to get him to develop a talent, so he got a guitar and began strumming and singing. He wasn’t real good at it but he and a friend, Wally Fowler, had a lot of fun in various groups.
In High School, he wrestled. He lost all his JV matches and won all his Varsity matches. He loved running and ran in many 5K races in his 30’s
Ted loved to gather food and supplies for the Tahamarah Indians, high in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico. When he lived in Orem, he made many trips to Mexico delivering much needed supplies.
Ted is survived by his wife, DaLynn, daughter Brenda Jean Case, step children, Matt and Shannon Viner, Donny and Adeleen Viner, Jeffrey Viner, John and Jessica Cannon and Mark and Katelyn Cannon, Debbie and Layne Nelson, Sherrie Cannon, Kent Cannon, Keith Cannon, 3 grandchildren, 23 Step grandchildren, 2 sisters and one brother, Mary and Gary Poppleton (Logan), Brent and Wanda Case(Charlotte, SC), Cindy and David Hansen(Provo), sister-in-law Karren Case(Salt Lake), and many nieces and nephews.
