1930 Arleen 2022

Edith Arleen Richardson Farrell

September 6, 1930 — December 28, 2022

Bountiful, UT

Edith Arleen Richardson Farrell passed away December 28, 2022, at the age of 92 from dementia. Arleen is the daughter of Persyl Leroy Richardson and Edith Elsie Dahl. She was born September 6, 1930, in Murray, Utah.

Arleen grew up in and loved Murray with all her heart. She graduated from Murray High as a Smelterite in 1949. As a teenager Arleen suffered from Polio but recovered without many complications. She attended the University of Utah. Arleen met the love of her life, Kenneth Albert Farrell, in Murray and they were married November 20, 1950, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in two homes in Murray until Ken’s death in 1994. Alreen then moved to Bountiful in 2003 to be closer to her son and grandchildren.

Arleen had a passion for beautiful things. She found time to paint landscapes, collect many things such as: decorative eggs, dolls and teddy bears, and to play the piano while raising her two children, Cherie Kim and Randy.

Arleen had a remarkable career as a make-up artist. She did make-up for the KUTV Channel 2 News and went on to do make-up for Roy Rogers, the Osmonds, Burl Ives, Marion Ross, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and many others. She was also the casting director at the Barbizon Agency and helped with several movies. She picked up amazing skills from her days in “The Movies” and shared her talents with her children and grandchildren.

Arleen was also an active member of her community. She worked for the Salt Lake Rotary Club as its executive secretary. She was the president of the Murray Women’s Club, on the Murray City Library Board, and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also attended many basketball games at Olympus High where her husband Ken worked as the head basketball coach.

Arleen spent many years caring for those around her. She often brought her children along as she served those in her ward, family and community. Arleen had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and participated her whole life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Arleen is fondly remembered for asking her children and grandchildren what color cloud they would like to sleep on and she could always be counted on to point out something beautiful on a car ride. Arleen is happy to be reunited with her husband (Ken), parents (Persyl, and Elsie), and sister (Rolayne Wenger), who preceded her in death.

Arleen is survived by her two children: Cherie Kim Barton and Randy (Lisa) Farrell; three brothers: LeRoy Richardson, Ron Richardson, and Larry (Carol) Richardson; eight grandchildren: Ray Barton IV, Chris (Reina) Barton, Randall Farrell Jr., Jon (Heather) Farrell, Aaron (Mckell) Farrell, JaLeen (Brandon) Rogers, Annalisa (McKay) Butler, & Elvon (Rachel) Farrell; and 15 great-grandchildren, who will all miss her very much, and say to her as she often said to us, “We love you the whole world full.”

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Neighborhood House, Hospice, and many others who helped in the care of Arleen.
