Dorothy Grace Neumann Severin

January 11, 1931 — June 1, 2021

Our precious and special mother and grandmother completed her mission on earth in a dignified and humble way on June 1, 2021. We who remain are grateful and thankful for her life and the blessing she was to all who knew her.

Dorothy Grace Neumann Severin was born on January 11, 1931 to her parents, Alfred Neumann and Gertrude Aderhold Neumann. She was the 4th of 5 children. Her parents migrated from Germany and settled in Farmington, Ut where life for her began. Her father opened a family bakery called The Bread Basket, where she learned her great work ethic. She was a hard worker all her life and a wonderful teacher to her children.

She married Eugene Axel Severin on December 6, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children, Brenda, Mark, Karen, and Jeanette. They bought a small 2 bedroom home in Bountiful when Brenda was 5 and lived there ever since.

Dorothy’s greatest joy was working in her yard, making it a bit of heaven on earth for her family. She had a beautiful rose patch that we all admired and will always remind us of her. She also had a large raspberry patch that produced beautiful berries for many years. She really had a knack for growing things and gardening.

Dorothy had many callings in the church including Young Womens President, Sunday School Coordinator, Primary teacher, and Den Mother, to name a few, which she fulfilled willingly and lovingly. She had a very giving heart and always put others needs above her own. Family was her number one priority and her life’s mission.

She will be remembered for her wonderful Christmas gingerbread cookies and other tasty treats during the holiday. They were a coveted item!

Thank you Mom for your years of self sacrifice so that we your family could have a better life. We love you and will miss you.

We want to express our love and gratitude to Dignity Hospice for the dedicated and loving kind service to our mom, and also to Synergy Home Care for providing an opportunity for wonderful summer walks that brought great joy to her. Mom always expressed gratitude for every loving service that was given her. “Those who loose their life in the service to God shall find it.” (Matt 16: 24,25)

She is survived by her husband, Eugene and her 4 children: Brenda Shamy, Mark Severin (Kerstin), Karen Fenn (Wade), and Jeanette Cunningham (Vince). She was the last survivor of her siblings. She has 18 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main St in Bountiful, Ut. where a viewing will be held from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Dr, Bountiful, Ut.
