Dorene Meacham Peterson

Dorene Meacham Peterson, a kind and gentle soul passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in Farmington, Utah.  She was born November 28, 1930 in Tremonton, Utah to John Leo and Elsie James Meacham.  She spent her early childhood in Park Valley, Utah where her father worked on a ranch.  When she was 10 years old her family moved to Brigham City, Utah where she continued her schooling.  She graduated in 1948 from Brigham City High School.

After high school, she continued her education by attending Brigham Young University.  It was there she met Dallas Odell Peterson.  They were married in the Logan Temple on November 21, 1952.

Dorene graduated from BYU in Elementary Education, the same day her husband Dallas also graduated from BYU. After the birth of their first and only child, David, they began a series of moves, to Washington, California, Utah, Wisconsin, Michigan and finally back to Utah.  During that time, Dorene spent over 30 years teaching elementary school, where her great love was to teach young children to read.

After her retirement, Dorene gave her grandchildren and eventually her great grandchildren a love of books and reading. 

Dorene was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in many capacities over the years, including as a missionary with her husband in the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission.

Dorene was preceded in death by her parents and husband and is survived by her sister Diane Munk (LaThair) and son, David (Yvonne), 6 grandchildren: Emily, Daniel, Christopher, Diana, Lisa and Ryan, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street in Farmington, Utah on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10 a.m.  A viewing will be held prior from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the services and will be posted below.
