Doreen White

August 10, 1943 — July 17, 2021

Doreen White passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2021, at the age of 77, at her home in Bountiful, UT.
Doreen was born August 10, 1943, in Archer, Idaho to Marion & Alice Cheney. She was the 7th of 13 children. She grew up on a small family farm and learned to work hard alongside her mom, dad, and her siblings. She graduated from Madison High School in 1961 and then attended Ricks College for 2 years where she earned a teaching certificate. She was hired to teach 3rd grade in Grace, Idaho. During this time, she was introduced to Reldon Clark White through her brother Delbert. They met in November 1963 and were engaged and later married on July 29th, 1964, celebrating a double wedding with Doreen’s brother, Delbert and Reldon’s sister, Rama. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Doreen continued her schooling at BYU over the next 2 years, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Doreen and Reldon were blessed with five wonderful children: 2 sons and 3 daughters. They raised their children in Bountiful, UT and have lived in the same home for more than 45 years. She devoted her life to serving her family, including her 21 grandchildren, as well as her friends and neighbors.
Doreen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions in her ward. She also loved attending the temple with her family.
Doreen & Reldon served two missions together. Their first mission was a humanitarian mission in Salt Lake City, where they served for three years. Doreen taught refugee women how to sew, and thoroughly enjoyed the service she was able to give. Their next mission was an Inner-City Mission in Salt Lake City, where they served for 18 months. Doreen and Reldon were also very involved in family history, and they traveled around the country visiting cemeteries, gathering records on their family lines, and preparing names for the temple.
Doreen was incredibly talented at sewing, gardening, and cooking. She served others by sharing these talents, and her gardening produce, with friends and family. She loved sewing for the grandkids and shared her talent of sewing by making each of her kids and grandkids quilts. She also sewed beautiful hot pads that she gave as gifts, and spent countless hours sewing lap quilts and donating them to care centers and hospitals.
Doreen is survived by her husband Reldon Clark White, son Arden (Rosalie), daughters Chantell (Brian), Catrina (Kevin), Nanette (Jonathan) and son Brandon (Laura); her siblings Twila (Lewis), David (Ann), Nita, Delbert, Lowell (GeNeil), Julian, Darrell (Kathy), Nolan (Mary Beth), Lynn (Cindy), Nadine (Edward), Mardell (Heidi), and 21 grandchildren.
Doreen is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Alice Cheney, her older sister Marie Lauritzen, and granddaughter Ella White.
