Doreen Elsie McNab Poulsen was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on September 10, 1934 and passed away at her home in Farmington, Utah on March 26, 2022 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
Doreen graduated from Hamilton Nursing College with a degree in Registered Nursing. Her first job was at a TB sanatorium. She was an eyewitness to the polio epidemic. After her children were born, she began pursuing a lifelong passion for dogs, showing, training, hunting, and grooming.
As a teen, Doreen converted to the LDS church while living in Canada. Once emigrating to the United States, she settled in Salt Lake City. This is where she met and married Frank “Stan” Poulsen in the Salt Lake Temple on October 20, 1960.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a relief society president and other callings in primary and young women’s organizations. Doreen was also a huge supporter of the scouting program and volunteered as a den mother for several years. Her son Matt carries on her legacy today.
