Farmington, Utah – Donna Marie Kowallis Hansen was born on Easter morning, April 17, 1927. She peacefully passed away 98 years later June 7, 2025.
Donna was the daughter of Carrie Ricks and Otto Karl Kowallis. Donna met Amos Boyd Hansen while working in Ogden, Utah and they were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 1, 1951.
Donna and Boyd were cherished parents of six daughters – Melba Caro (Brent) Baum – Nibley, Utah; Allyn (Danny) Sorensen– Bountiful, Utah; Marilyn (Bruce) Robinson– Cincinnati, Ohio; Lisa (Cliff) Alexander - Johnstown, Colorado; Tina Marie (Randell) Heath – Mountain Green, Utah; and Debra (Blair) Goodman - Junction City, Oregon.
Donna loved her daughters and taught them the skills of sewing, canning, cleaning, and cooking. Donna loved music and she loved to sing. She had a beautiful alto voice that she worked hard to develop. Donna was able to sing with the Tabernacle Choir from1966 to 1976. She had the opportunity to travel with the choir to Germany, Canada,New York, Rhode Island, Nebraska, Michigan and Oklahoma. Donna’s choir seat was to the right of the podium in the Tabernacle. As her children, we could often see her during General Conference as church leaders spoke. Donna was also a member of the Jay Welch Chorale for many years.
Donna and Boyd were faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were temple officiators in the Bountiful Temple. Donna served in the church in many teaching callings and with her music.Donna sang in church choirs and was often invited to sing in sacrament meetings throughout the stake. Donna worked with Boyd when he was called into the Bishopric of the single’s ward, which they both loved.
After Boyd passed away in January of 1999, Donna moved to Centerville, Utah and met Vonnie Brockbank. Together they served a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Donna was an avid reader and loved to learn. She had excellent secretarial skills and worked at the University of Utah Medical Center, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Donna was a great example to her six daughters, 28grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd; her son-in-law David Henderson, her five siblings, and one great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, June 26th, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah, 84014, where a viewing will be held from 10 to 11:15 a.m prior to services.
Donna will be buried next to her husband at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
