Donald Phillip Omer

September 29, 1931 — August 12, 2025

Centerville, UT

On a beautiful summer evening, August 12th, 2025, while in his beloved home and with family, Donald Phillip Omer passed peacefully and moved on to meet his wife to go on to their next great adventure.

Don was born in Salt Lake City on September 29, 1931 to Otto Phillip Omer and Norma Lillis Stark, the 3rd of 4 siblings. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on September 30, 1939. Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spent many years in various church callings.

Don married the love of his life Amelia Anne on February 2, 1952. They enjoyed 73 years together. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 1, 1957. They raised 6 children in their home in Centerville Utah, Linda, Chris (Jerry), Ed (Lori), Beth, Gail (Mike) and Richard (Michelle).

Aviation was always in Don’s heart. He served four years in naval aviation, and continued in the US Federal civil service for the remainder of his career in the aviation field.

Don was a gifted mechanic both with his work and his family. He loved and shared his abilities whenever there was a need. He loved aviation and would ask whoever was near what type of aircraft it was when one flew over or was seen or heard. He could name nearly all of them and tell you each of the ones on which he had worked.

An avid sports enthusiast, he was playing some sport whenever given the opportunity. He loved golf and played whenever time would permit. Basketball and baseball were his cherished team sports. He loved organizing teams, thus making life long teammates and friends. Golfing, fishing, and skiing were his favorites especially when he could include all the family to enjoy the outdoors and nature together.

Don lived a full life and was a loving influence, as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all of us fortunate enough to have shared in his life. He was a wonderful example of a loving and caring man.
