Donald A. Gurr

July 6, 1937 — December 14, 2021

Donald A. Gurr was born July 6, 1937 in Parowan, UT to parents Elmer O. & Della Gurr. Don grew up in a small home in Parowan, UT, went to Parowan high school playing multiple sports, basketball, football, and baseball. Out of those sports, he said he loved basketball the best. He worked on the family farm west of town. After high school Don was a charter tour bus driver in Cedar City, UT and drove tourists to all the national parks in southern Utah. Don met Karen Lee Jones, from Cedar City, UT when she worked as a Cashier in the Escalante Motel in Cedar City and noticed my Dad when the bus drivers would come into the motel to help check in and out the tourists as they did their tours. They courted and were married in the St. George Temple on Sept 9, 1960.
They moved to Logan, Utah where Don attended and graduated from Utah State University with an Electrical Engineering degree and worked most of his life at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, UT designing parts and systems for many airplane simulators and large ordinance explosive weapons.
Don always loved to coach his 4 sons in all sports and was always involved and supportive of their music and other activities that they participated in. He wound up coaching many of his 4 sons sports teams as they grew up and was president of the little league for a few years.
Don served in many capacities in the church over the years; ward clerk, counselor in the Bishopric, primary teacher, Sunday school teacher and served a mission with his wife Karen in Utah. He was a humble follower of Jesus Christ and quietly served others with no fanfare or recognition.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen, four children; Brad (Cindy), Greg (Krishna), Jeff (JoAnne), Mike (Ginger), 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 20 2021 at the Woods Cross 3rd Ward Church building, 1450 South 350 West, Bountiful, UT., where a viewing will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be held immediately following the funeral service at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, UT.
