Dianne Barlow, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, peacefully passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1943, she lived a life marked by faith, service, joy, and a gentle kindness that touched everyone around her.
She married her high school sweetheart, James Barlow, from Bountiful High School, and on September 20, 1962, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. Together, they raised three daughters—Amy, Angela, and Valerie—who were the light of her life.
Dianne was known for her sweet and generous spirit. She was always smiling and made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her service to others was wholehearted and sincere.
She dedicated many years as a Primary worker, lovingly teaching children songs and gospel principles. Later, she served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple, a sacred role she held with deep reverence.
A gifted storyteller, Dianne wrote and directed faith-filled plays for family and friends. She was also skilled in sewing, embroidery, and baking, and her homemade brownies and delicious pies were treasured by those close to her.
She especially loved visiting McCall, Idaho, where she found peace in nature and enjoyed special time with family.
Dianne and Jim served a mission at the LDS Church’s welfare cannery in 2011, where they found joy in providing for those in need. In 2014, they were called to serve as full-time missionaries in St. Louis, Missouri, where they made a lasting impact through her warmth and testimony. Upon returning home, they continued their service at LDS Business College from 2015 to 2018, mentoring and supporting students with love and faith.
Dianne had a deep love for Christmas, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere with her decorations and traditions. She was passionate about freedom and country, actively involved in local politics, and played a supportive role in her father-in-law’s mayoral campaign. She cherished the values of truth and liberty.
Music was an important part of her life. She especially enjoyed Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Her favorite song was “Theme from A Summer Place.”, which is the song her and her sweetheart danced to at their wedding.
Her greatest joy was her family. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished her 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, celebrating their lives and supporting them with love and prayer.
Dianne is survived by her husband, James Barlow; daughters Amy (Steve), Angela (Kelly), and Valerie; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and sister, Cathy (Barry). She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Evelyn Needham, and granddaughter Faith Angela Martinez.
