Dennis Lee Glade

Listen to Obituary

On the morning of April 1st, 2026, Dennis Lee Glade passed away at the age of 74. He spent his final days surrounded by loved ones who brought him peace and comfort til the very end.

Dennis was born on March 25th, 1952 in Salt Lake City to Vernon and Beverly Glade. He grew up in Millcreek and graduated from Olympus High School in 1970. He then joined the National Guard and finished basic training before serving an LDS mission in Edinburgh, Scotland. He married Jeanie Woolstenhulme in 1974. They had four children; Melissa, Kimberly, DJ, and Matthew, whom they raised in Oakley, Utah.

There were no strangers in this world for Dennis; only friends he hadn’t met yet. Within minutes, you were charmed by his dynamic and outgoing personality. He was quick with a compliment or joke to make you feel at ease and his infectious laugh brought a smile to anyone.

His voice was recognizable to all. He spent years on the microphone serving as PA announcer to numerous high school sports events. From football to swimming, he was passionate about bringing weight and emotion to countless high school sports moments.

Life took Dennis to Massachusetts where he met his second wife, Denise. They were married in 2008 and spent the next 10 years living in Cape Cod. Tragically, Denise was diagnosed with cancer. Dennis cared for her until her untimely death in 2018. He then returned to Utah in 2019.

Dennis was an artist with a camera in his hand. It didn’t matter if he was taking pictures of his dogs at the beach or on the sidelines of a game capturing the emotion of every big play, he was at his happiest.

Dennis was always looking for a new hobby to master. “Glado’s Tomatoes” were legendary in the gardening community of East Harwich and he could brew a beer that would rival anything on tap.

His other passions included backpacking in the Uintas, fishing, baseball, Utah athletics, agitating BYU fans, books by Patrick McManus and Tom Bodett, hot tubs, grilling the perfect steak, and his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Denise, and his parents, Vernon and Beverly Glade.

He is survived by his four children Melissa Smart (Jim), Kimberly Peacock (Jason), D.J. Glade (Tracy), Matthew Glade (Alexia), and 9 grandchildren (Jake Smart, Raegan Smart, Brooklyn Peacock, Jordan Peacock, Brittan Glade, Cannon Glade, Blair Glade, Chrissy Glade, and Lydia Glade).

His family would like to thank Pheasant View Memory Care staff and Cascade Hospice Nursing staff for the care Dennis received the past few years.
