BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Dell Jean Nelson Cook, 89, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, in Bountiful, Utah.

Dell Jean was born April 1, 1937, in Brigham City, Utah, to Delbert and Glaia Nelson, and was raised in Clearfield. She graduated from Davis High School in 1955.

She married her beloved husband, Gary Garner Cook, in 1955 in the Swiss LDS Temple while he served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Together, they built a life filled with devotion to family, faith, and service.

Dell Jean was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Gary, who passed away on March 28, 1990; her parents, sister Gayla Schofield, and brother Gary Nelson.

She is survived by her seven children: Keith Cook (Laura), Christine Winck (Jurgen), Stephen Cook, David Cook (Kay), Cathy Russon, Jonathan Cook (Cecily), Richard Cook (Tiana).

She leaves behind a legacy of 37 grandchildren, 139 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. All because two people fell in love.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Russon Brothers Syracuse Mortuary at 11 a.m. Friends may call Tuesday, September 8, at the Russon Bros. Syracuse Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m.

Internment will be in the Syracuse City Cemetery, buried next to her sweetheart.
