Delene B. Stone quietly passed away—or, as she would say, graduated—at her home at the age of 85, following a short decline in health after a fall. She was blessed to spend her final months visiting with friends and family, surrounded by love, with her wonderful smile still on her face until the end.
Delene was born on March 5, 1940, to Almorean and Ilene Bagley. She was the eldest of three daughters. On September 11, 1959, she married Robert B. Stone in the Salt Lake City Temple, beginning a lifelong partnership centered on faith, family, and service.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Delene gave her whole heart to every calling she received. She served in many roles, including camp director, Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, and in her later years at Barton Creek Assisted Living Center as the Relief Society President. She often joked that the residents there kept her young—even though she was older than some of them.
Delene worked for the Davis School District for over 35 years in a variety of positions, retiring 12 years ago. She was affectionately known as the “work mom” to many of her coworkers, always offering kindness, guidance, and encouragement.
She is survived by her children: Fran Beary of Clarion, Pennsylvania; Tom and Peggy Stone of Cedar City, Utah; Julie and Cliff Armstrong of Kaysville, Utah; and Bryan and Brenda Stone of Bear River, Wyoming. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Delene is further survived by her sisters, Ann Brown of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Lynne Johnston of Bountiful, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert B. Stone, and her parents, Almorean and Ilene Bagley.
Delene’s life was one of quiet service, steadfast faith, and deep love for her family and community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
