Debra Pauline Rigby born January 18, 1956, in Salt Lake City Utah, raised in Centerville, Utah; returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 6, 2025. She passed away due to kidney failure complications of Diabetes. She was 69 years old.
Deb was the second child of Seymour Dee Rigby and Patricia Ann West Rigby. She was the only girl in a family of 4 brothers and 1 sister (Deb).
Deb was a very talented person. She earned an Associate degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, now known as BYU Idaho. She retired from Questar Gas where she was an executive secretary to the Executive Vice President of the company.
Early in life she became an accomplished seamstress. Her dad loved to wear shirts and other items she sewed for him. Others would have her make things like gymnastics leotards for their gymnastics team. She was an excellent knitter and learned how to make custom Christmas stockings that were a tradition in the Rigby family dating back to the early 1900s. She has knit Christmas stockings for all of her nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
She loved family parties and spending time with her family.
She loved to sing, and sang with the “Sweet Adelines” choir for several years.
After retirement, she traveled the world with friends and family. She visited places like Israel and Scotland and many other areas. Her travels included a trip to Santiago Chile where she was able to witness the marriage of her nephew.
Deb served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1982 to 1983 in the Scotland Edinburgh Mission. She really enjoyed her mission and was able to return a couple of times to visit. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings including Young Women’s President, Relief Society presidencies, and many other callings throughout her life. She fulfilled and magnified her callings with gusto.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents: William L. Rigby & Blanche Barnes Rigby of Centerville, Utah and William Arthur West & Maud Bridge West of Salt Lake City, Utah and also her parents: Seymour Dee Rigby and Patricia Ann West Rigby of Centerville, Utah. She is survived by her brothers: William Dee (Kristy) Rigby, S. Dru (Kathy) Rigby, Dirk West Rigby, Darren Barnes (Tonya) Rigby. She is also survived by her eleven nieces and nephews, several grand nieces and nephews, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
A viewing will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Centerville Stake Center, 910 North Main Street, Centerville, Utah. There will be no viewing on the day of the funeral. Per Deb’s request, she will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in the grave of her mother in Farmington, Utah at a later date.
