Dean Clifton Larson

March 31, 1947 — March 9, 2026

Just days prior to his 79th birthday, Dean Clifton Larson returned to the arms of the Savior after valiantly enduring several health challenges.

He was born in Ogden, Utah on March 31, 1947 to Clifton Blaine Larson and Reva Toponce Larson, the second of five children and the only son. He was educated in Ogden City schools graduating from Ogden High School in 1965. He subsequently earned a bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering from Weber State University and later a master's degree from the University of Utah.

While attending college, he married Kathy Shepherd and became the father of two beautiful daughters, Lonee and Shawna. When that marriage ended he married Patricia Wendel Lewis and became a second dad to Brad, Ryan, and Alisa Lewis. Dean and Pat shared their lives for 39 years.

His career opportunities included Max Factor, Iomega, Evans and Sutherland, and Hill Air Force Base. He retired from the base in 2014.

Dean enjoyed simple pleasures; watching football, fixing things (he never met a tool he didn't like), eating out, day trips with Bruce and Karla, travels with the "Alaska group", card club, Centerpoint Theater, and reading books pertaining to his faith.

He embraced his faith and served willingly in various capacities.

Dean never sought attention or spoke unkindly of anyone.

He was predeceased by his parents, beloved daughter Lonee and her husband Chad Harmon, sisters Kaylene Peterson, Trudy Firestack, and Terri Thiel, and in-laws Ruth and Harold Moon.

Survivors include his wife Pat, children Shawna Gillen (LJ), Brad Lewis, Ryan Lewis (Jenny Nimori), Alisa Lewis and grandchildren, Seth Shipley (Maddie), Jakob Shipley, Chase Harmon, Joshua Ellsworth, Ari Gillen, Ian Lewis, and Drew Lewis and great-grandson, Wren Shipley, and his sister Jeannie (Clay) Hansen.

In celebration of a life well-lived, a gathering for friends and family will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 845 North 1150 East in Layton, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16.
