Dawn Lois Hill, Dawnie AKA G-Ma Dawnie was born on December 11, 1956, to Joseph Nelson Petersen and Dorothy Lois Shaw Petersen. Dawnie passed from her mortal bonds with a host of angels in the early hours of February 27, 2026, to join her dad “Nellie”.
Dawn grew up in Granger next door to her Petersen grandparents on the farm with horses, cows, chickens and three brothers.
She attended various schools, graduating from Granger High School in 1975. She worked for Granger Medical Clinic for 27 years, then worked at the Utah State Prison where she made many friends.
Dawn married Terry Hill on July 4, 1981, fulfilling a promise to her deceased best friend Bonnie, in Nels & Lois’ backyard. Dawn was blessed with two sons, Joshua Nelson Hill in 1977 and Terry Joseph Hill in 1982. Dawn & Terry were sealed for time & eternity in the Jordan River Temple on July 13, 2019.
Dawn has been gifted with many talents, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, artist, quilter, to name a few.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Terry, her son Joshua and grandkids Kyara, Cord and Tiger. Her son Terry Joseph (Jenn) and grandsons Dallas, Dylan & Gabe, her mother Lois, brother Dave (Kathy), brother Brent (Kim), brother Craig (Cindy) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
