David Reuben Pearson

August 11, 1942 — October 15, 2022

Kaysville

David Reuben Pearson our loving Dad, Brother, Grandpa and Great Grandpa passed away at his home October 15, 2022.

David was born August 11, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Reuben Nathaniel and June Helga Pearson. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Olympus High School. He attended the University of Utah and graduated as an Electrical Engineer in 1966. He also loved Physics and spent an additional year of school in this endeavor.

He married his eternal companion Mary Lou Sargent in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1966. She was the love of his life and they spent 45 wonderful years raising 4 kids.

From October 1966 through September of 2001 he worked at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. During these 34 years at the “Base”, he met many lifelong friends which remained part of his close circle until his passing.

Those of you that knew David understood and saw his passion for watching his children and grandchildren participate in many different sports, dancing and other activities. He was affectionately known by his children’s friends as “Video Dave” due to always having a video camera with him for every event. He never missed a game and never missed an opportunity to brag about them.

David was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he held many different callings. His most enjoyable and impactful were being involved in all areas of Scouting.

David loved archery and was an accomplished archer.  He had a love of hunting and of the outdoors where he spent many hours with his children and grandchildren.

His life changed when Mary Lou suddenly passed away October 19, 2011. He fortunately was able to meet Anita Peterson early in 2013 and they were married later that spring. They spent the next 8 years together with both sides of their families. Anita passed away June 2, 2021.

Dad and gramps we will miss your endless support from the sidelines and your ability to be everyone’s number one fan.  We’ll miss your smile, stories, and video camera at every family party.  We’ll miss your willingness to step in and help whenever you’re needed.  Mostly, we’ll just miss you and your constant unconditional love. We sure love you!

He is survived by his children Jeff (Tracy), Kristin Harrop (Matt) and Tracie Burnett (Mike). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also sisters, Joan Quigley (Bruce), Kathy Perkins and Lisa Shupe. He was preceded in death by his wife (Mary Lou), his second wife (Anita Peterson), daughter Natalie Pearson, sister Marjorie Mason and brother Brent Pearson.
