Listen to Obituary

David Andersen “Dave” Hall, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 13, 1939, in Brigham City, Utah, to James Arnold and Mildred Andersen Hall.

Dave grew up in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School, where he was an active member of the swim team and played the drums. After high school Dave attended Utah State University where he also played in the band. From a young age, he carried a love for music and sports that would stay with him throughout his life. Dave was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dave spent much of his career doing what he loved most—working in the airline industry. He began with United Airlines, continued with Western, and ultimately retired from Delta Air Lines in 2004. His work opened the door to one of his greatest joys: travel. He was always ready to go anywhere, anytime, but his heart belonged to Hawaii. Over the course of his life, he visited the islands more than 50 times.

He had a deep love for cars, especially his Thunderbird and his many Ford Broncos—big and small. He was also a devoted sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Miami Dolphins and BYU.

On June 1, 1984, Dave married the love of his life, Mavis. Their bond was later sealed for eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple on June 16, 2015. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and shared experiences.

Dave found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved being outside, hunting and horseback riding, and especially working in his yard or relaxing on his deck, and looked forward to the July 24th fireworks at Mueller Park each year. He was known for his routines including his daily mornings spent relaxing in the hot tub he had worked hard to purchase and enjoy.

He was a devoted grandfather whose grandchildren will always remember the treats he kept close at hand—caramels and Mike and Ike candies—often found waiting in his car, along with his warmth and steady presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, Mavis; his children Karen Jean (Penni) Bown, Kim (Orson) Whitney, Travis (Nancy) Hall and Stephanie Hall; as well as five grandchildren and eight great-grand-children.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Inspiration Hospice, especially Chenoa and Ashley, for their compassionate care and support.
