Dale Glen Peterson

October 8, 1938 — October 8, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Dale Glen Peterson was born October 8, 1938, at the family home in Woods Cross, Utah; the fourth child of Glen Wood Peterson and Winnie Lavaun Wright Peterson. His father was a farmer and meat cutter at Cudahy Packing in Woods Cross. In 1943, the family bought a small dairy farm five miles West of Nyssa, Oregon, on Alberta Ave. They milked cows, grew the feed and some other crops. Over the next few years, they bought adjoining property, cleared sagebrush and rocks, and expanded their farm and dairy herd. Dale enjoyed helping the family take care of the farm animals and property. He spent much of his time on his horse “Shorty.” He was active in 4-H and FFA and was President of each.

He attended Nyssa Schools, graduating from Nyssa High in 1956. He attended Brigham Young University in 1956, then College of Idaho 1957. While attending the C of I, he worked part-time at KCID Radio in Caldwell, ID. He soon began working full time at KCID. He held several key positions at KCID, learning every aspect of the business. He became the General Manager of the radio station "On the corner where the world turns" in 1968. Dale and Duane Wolfe purchased KCID in 1971. He continued as General Manager, with Duane as his corporate partner. Mr. Wolfe died in 1993 and Dale purchased his stock from his sons Graye and Timbre Wolfe.

Dale worked at KCID for a total of 41 years, adding KCID FM 107.1 in 1986. Both stations were sold to American General Media in 1996, and Dale worked as a consultant for two years as part of the sales agreement. He served as President of the Idaho State Broadcasters in 1975 and was presented the “Lifetime Achievement Award in Broadcasting” in 1996.

In 1954, Dale met his future wife, Mary Ellen Wynn, at a church social. They married on December 2, 1958, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children: Carla, Dana, Wynn and Kimberly.

Dale and Mary Ellen were very active in their community and church and supported their children through many school and church functions. Their children grew up in the family home at 2015 Brookside Drive, Caldwell, Idaho, and all graduated from Caldwell High School.

Dale served on many boards of the community, was a member of the Lions Club, then Rotary. He worked on and chaired various school bond issues, and other community improvements. In 1972, he was honored to receive the "Distinguished Service Award" for his community work in the state of Idaho. That year, his car wore “MR DSA” license plates.

He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many leadership positions, including Bishop of the Caldwell Third Ward. He enjoyed more than anything his work with the youth of the Church and formed many lifelong bonds with people he mentored for decades. He was the master of the one-minute phone call to touch base and let you know that he was thinking about you.

After selling Twin Cities Broadcasting Company in 1996, and completing a two-year consulting contract, he became Executive Director of Buy Idaho, Inc. and enjoyed the interaction with business and industry leaders throughout Idaho for over twelve years, retiring in 2010.

In 2012, he and Mary Ellen moved to Lehi, Utah, where he served as ordinance worker in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple. Mary Ellen passed away in 2014.

Dale later married Francene Myer of Bountiful, Utah, a lifelong acquaintance. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage and life together, helping each other enjoy their later years of life in Bountiful. This too was a great blessing to Dale and his family.
