1931 Dale 2026

Dale Delos Huff

April 20, 1931 — January 4, 2026

Centerville, UT

Dale Delos Huff, 94, of Centerville, Utah, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in the family home he built fifty-seven years ago.

Dale was born on April 20, 1931, in Lakeshore, Utah, to Delos and Rhea Huff. He was one of six children: Joyce, Dale, Gary, Leta, Roger, and Randy.

Dale and his siblings enjoyed a memorable childhood on the shores of Utah Lake—riding horses, seining for carp, growing crops, and “tinkering” with everything from doll buggies to Jeeps. Under the guidance of his father, Dale developed the mechanical skills that would bless his family and others throughout his life.

Blessed with close friendships, Dale graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1949. From 1951 to 1953, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawaii, where he grew to love the people, the music, and the gospel. Following his mission, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, he enrolled at Brigham Young University and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Dale’s life was further enriched when he met Lea Olsen at a dance at BYU. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 20, 1965, and both remained devoted BYU fans throughout their lives.

Dale was widely known for his remarkable ability to fix, build, and repair nearly anything mechanical, as well as for his skilled use of a backhoe. He was famous for his “out-of-the-box” solutions while building or restoring homes, trailers, automobiles, snowmobiles, and small engines.

He worked on the Minuteman III and the NASA Space Shuttle programs. For many years, he was a safety engineer for the F-16 at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1999.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale served as a bishop, clerk, teacher, missionary, and temple worker. He especially cherished his years of service as a home teacher, blessing the lives of many families. Dale and Lea later served a mission together in Ghana, West Africa.

Dale found joy in gardening, serving and visiting with friends, and helping his growing posterity with their many projects.

Dale Delos Huff is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lea Olsen Huff, and their children: Heather (Rolan) Bloomfield, Holly (Shawn) Moore, Shawn (Robyn) Huff, Christy (Jayson) Evans, Derek (Erin) Huff, Teesh (C.J.) Murray, and Bryce (Melissa) Huff; along with 32 cherished grandchildren and 15 adored great-grandchildren. He is also survived by their honorary daughter, Nancy (Dell) Turner, and her family. Dale and Lea were blessed with friends who became family and will always regard Dale as “Grandpa.”

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Swanner, and his brother, Gary Huff. He is survived by his sister, Leta Smith, and his brothers, Roger and Randy Huff.
