Connie Chugg Albretsen

August 27, 1934 — March 27, 2022

Connie Chugg Albretsen, (87) passed away, Sunday morning, March 27, 2022, at Whisper Cove Assisted Living in Kaysville, Utah.

Growing up in Providence, Utah, Connie was the eleventh child of thirteen children born to William Duard and Lillie Frederick Chugg. Her father died due to injuries from a fall while trying to repair a hay fork in his parent’s barn when she was six years old.  Her mother suffered from rhematic heart disease, so Connie and her sisters learned early on to do the household chores and help with cooking.  After graduating from South Cache High School in 1952, Connie worked for Dr. Merrill Daines as a medical assistant while caring for her mother and family home. When her mother passed away in 1954, she continued to live in their family home with her sisters.

Connie and Bruce Albretsen’s relationship flourished after she stopped on her way home from work to see if he needed any help reloading the fallen hay bales on Main Street in Logan.  They married on June 11, 1958, in the Logan Temple.  She set up homes in Logan twice, Ogden, Hyrum, and Bountiful twice, Seattle, Richland, and Spokane, Washington, and Many Farms, Arizona. They were married for 60 years; Bruce passed away in 2018.  She lived in her Bountiful house for 23 years.

Rising early, each day was filled with work in the house, garden, and yard, cooking delicious meals, baking bread and cookies, candy-making, sewing projects, patchwork quilts, rug braiding-her favorite, and crocheting.  Dad always said she could accomplish more than anyone else he knew. Harvesting apricots from the large trees in her back yard became a family event.  She never wanted any to be wasted.  She was a master canner of fruits and vegetables, often giving more to her children’s families than she kept for herself. Connie was a great resource for recipes and sharing her skills with family and friends.  All her children and grandchildren have many cherished handmade items.  Connie was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers serving in leadership positions in her camp and company and graciously hosting many meetings.

Connie was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints fulfilling callings mostly in Primary and Relief Society.  She enjoyed serving with her husband on a mission at the Logan LDS Employment Center, at the Legacy House Bountiful Branch, and as Bountiful Temple workers.

She was a wonderful mother to four children, Judy (Bryon) Andreasen, Jay (Mary) Albretsen, Janice (Mark) Moulton, and JoAnn (Mark) Scovel.  Connie has 18 grandchildren, who will miss her peanut cakes, rolls with jam, raisin filled cookies, spudnuts, and the best hand dipped chocolates.  Connie delighted in seeing and playing with her 34 great grandchildren.  She is survived by three sisters, LuJean (Gene) Toolson, Alta Burton, and Mary Beth Niederhauser. She truly lived to serve her family.

We would like to thank all of the Whisper Cove and Dignity Hospice nurses and staff who all gave our mother excellent care.

The funeral will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Bountiful 31st Ward building at 585 E. Center Street.  Visitations will be 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service and on Sunday, April 3rd, 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main Street, Bountiful.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page. Streaming will begin 10-15 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
