Cleone Lois Kynaston

Cleone Lois Eatchel Kynaston passed away peacefully in her home on Monday March 9, 2026 after saying goodbye to her family and receiving a blessing from her bishop the night before.

Cleone was born on December 10, 1933 to Harry B. and Eda L. Eatchel in Salt Lake City. She moved with her family to Kaysville, Utah the summer before she entered 3rd grade. There, she was proud to attend the original Kaysville Elementary School, and her fondest school memories were of her years at Davis High School where she graduated in 1952.

She was so proud of attending Davis and was a member of Pro-Schola. During her sophomore year, she met the love of her life, E. Dean Kynaston. They got engaged before Dean left on his mission and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 26, 1952 soon after he returned.

Together, they traveled to and lived in Nissa, Oregon; Soda Springs, Idaho; and Farmington, Sterling, and Park Valley, Utah. Eventually they settled in Kaysville, moving into and expanding Cleone’s childhood home, where they lived for the rest of their lives.

Cleone was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. She joyfully served the Church through numerous callings. She shared her testimony and love of the Gospel with her family.

She was a proud and active member of TOPS for over fifty years. She belonged to the UT 0130 Kaysville Chapter. In 2021, she was awarded Queen for having lost the most weight of all the members in Utah.

Cleone loved to cook and was incredibly good at it! So much so that none of the recipes she’s passed down taste as good as when she made them. Along with cooking, she enjoyed canning and made the best peaches, pears, and pickles. No other pickles are quite as good as Cleone’s!

She also loved putting together puzzles, cross-stitching, and playing card games like Solitaire and Rummy. She shared all of these hobbies with her grandchildren while she cared for them and on annual family summer camping trips she put together with Dean.

Of all the things she loved, spending time with and caring for her family is what she loved the absolute most! She retired in 1992 from Hill Air Force Base as a telephone operator in order to care for her grandchildren during the day. She made sure to capture every moment by taking thousands of pictures, even if her family didn’t always feel like being in them. Her family now is grateful to have such an expansive record of our time together.

Cleone is returning home to her Heavenly Father to be with her eternal partner, Dean, as well as with her parents and four brothers: Donald, Gene, Lee, and Hal. She is survived by her two sons Kirt and Ryan (Julie) Kynaston, her seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren (with another great- and first great-great- grandchild on the way).

We want to give a special thank you to Cleone’s son Kirt for the years of care after Dean passed, her granddaughter Aftyn for the love and care during her final days, and Home Health/Hospice for their care.

A viewing will be held prior to the services on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at Kaysville Utah East Stake Center, 201 South 600 East Kaysville, Utah. The funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery, 200 East 500 South, Farmington, Utah.
