Chet Kim Allen

September 20, 1952 — May 14, 2025

West Bountiful, UT

On the morning of May 14, 2025, in the quiet comfort of his home, Chet Allen peacefully slipped away, cradled in the love of his family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. His passing was gentle, just as he lived—steady, warm, and wrapped in love.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Intermountain Homecare and Hospice and to the compassionate health care professionals who cared for Chet with such tenderness and dignity during his final days. Your kindness brought immense comfort and peace to Chet and to all of us who love him.

Chet was born on September 20, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Murl Allen and Laberda Draper. He was the fourth of six siblings—Dixie Jensen, Meda (Doug) Black, and his late siblings Terry Allen, Jackie Allen, and Todd Allen—each of whom he held dear in his heart.

A proud graduate of Viewmont High School, Chet married his high school sweetheart, Renate Borschel, on April 24, 1972, in the Provo Utah Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Their love story, built on faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion, has been the foundation of their family. When Renate moved back to Germany after they met, Chet sold his car and beloved guitar to fly across the world and bring her back to the U.S. for marriage. It was a powerful act of love and devotion, showing his deep compassion and commitment. In all their years together, they never once yelled at each other, and Chet never spoke a negative word about Renate—a quiet testament to the deep respect and kindness that defined their relationship. Their marriage has been filled with patience, gentle understanding, and mutual admiration for 53 years—qualities that created a home of peace and love, and left a lasting example for generations to come.

Chet had a gift for craftsmanship and a remarkable work ethic. After discovering his passion for tile work, he launched Chet’s Ceramic Tile, earning a reputation for his meticulous artistry and integrity. For the past 26 years, he worked with dedication at Power Engineering. But more than any job title or paycheck, Chet valued service to others—he lived to lift, serve, and love.

He was the proud father of four daughters—Michelle (Tye) Rogers, Angie (Randy) Brown, Natalie Allen, and Emily (David) Jensen—who were the joy and light of his life. Chet was a patient, gentle, and devoted father. Even when his girls challenged him (which they often did), he responded with humor, love, and quiet strength. He found teaching moments in everyday life and offered lessons not just in words, but by the way he lived—with grace, humility, and deep integrity.

Though his dream of raising outdoor-loving daughters didn’t quite come true, he inspired them in far more lasting ways. Through his love and respect for their mother, he modeled what true partnership and love look like. Because of his example, his daughters sought and found men with the same heart and character. Chet embraced his sons-in-law like his own, delighted by friendly competition and bonding over sports and games.

Chet also had a deep love for music. As a young man, he played lead guitar in a band, and his passion for music remained a constant joy throughout his life. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the downstairs couch, blasting his favorite music videos and sharing that joy with his grandchildren. His musical spirit lives on in many of them today.

Chet was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. His face lit up whenever he spoke of them, and his love for them knew no bounds.

He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, steadfast love, and a life well-lived. We will miss his calm voice, his gentle guidance, and the sparkle in his eye when he laughed—but his influence will echo through generations.
