Cheryl Tracy was born September 20th, 1954 to Barbara Ann Gibson, age 26, and Donald Orin Tracy Sr., age 27. She was the youngest of their 3 children. Growing up, she was very close to her family. She graduated at West High School in 1972.
During her life, she sang in her School Choir, Y.W.M.I.A Centennial Chorus, Mormon Youth Chorus and was a former vocal soloist for the Utah Pipe Band. Though born and raised as a Mormon, she converted to Catholicism and was an active member of the Catholic Church. She served as the Cantor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years, working with her niece, Michelle Tracy, who was the organist for the same Church. Along with Michelle, she chose the musical selection for her sister Janice Tracy McAffee’s funeral in 1999. They both also made a CD titled “Inspirational Songs” together in 2001, in which she had done the vocals.
She spent a long time working as a 911 Dispatcher and was able to have an early retirement due to a stress-induced stroke in 2004.
She was a very family-oriented person, helping her nephew Darren McAffee and his wife Adrienne McAffee move back to Utah from Indiana in 2006 when they couldn’t afford a U-haul or moving truck. She took in her nephew, Douglas McAffee Jr., and let him live with her for over 14 years until her death. Though she never had a husband or children, she treated him and her other nieces and nephews with care only a mother could have.
When her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers, she took her in and cared for her until she was unable to anymore, where she was placed into a care facility where passed away in 2016.
She became wheelchair bound years after a stroke and was homebound for around 6 years. Despite that, she stayed optimistic, becoming interested in her ancestry and family history, and often watching detective television shows.
She passed away on August 6th, 2025 at age 70 after struggling with a short illness.
She was cremated and buried in Valley View Memorial Park near her elder brother Don Orin Tracy Jr. and her parents
Missing them in this life are her nieces and nephews, Douglas McAffee Jr., David McAffee, Daniel McAffee, Darren McAffee, Michelle Tracy, and everyone else that knew her.
