Charles Elliott Hall

Charles Elliott Hall returned to his heavenly home on August 20, 2025.

He was born in St Louis, Missouri, on January 14, 1945, to Robert Hubert Hall and Edith Thorson Hall, while his father was in medical school.

From an early age onward, he loved music. He sang in various choirs, and learned how to play the piano, organ, guitar, banjo and bass. Although he enjoyed folk music and participated in a band with friends in his earlier years, the sacred hymns of the church were always dear to his heart and he listened to and played them daily, especially in the latter years of his life.

He was raised and educated in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from East High School in 1963 and later with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Utah in 1968.

His professional career began at Haskins & Sells accounting firm and eventually led him to work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he spent the majority of his career, in various capacities. Some of his favorite work assignments included the many years living and working in Mexico City and at the Deseret Ranches in Central Florida while raising his small family.

His most important focus in life, however, was to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to his eternal companion, Kristine Wilcox, and the family that they created together.

Kristine and Charles originally met while attending University of Utah through the Lambda Delta Sigma chapter at the University’s institute of religion. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple on September 5, 1967, and were subsequently blessed with two sons, Andy and Mark. They will celebrate 58 years of marriage next week.

Charles loved the Lord with all his heart and was happiest when he had a calling and was serving others, both inside and outside of the Church. This was manifested through tireless service and ministering to others. This service came in many forms throughout his life.

He served a full-time mission in Central Mexico as a youth (1964-1966). This early experience solidified not only a lifelong love of Mexican food, but also of the Spanish language and Latin-American culture and people. Later in life, he and Kristine served as mission leaders in Quito, Ecuador (1990-1993) and then again later as Mission Training Center President in Bogota, Colombia (2011-2013). Through these experiences over the years, he touched the lives and developed lasting bonds with hundreds of Elders and Sisters. He loved them, he served with them, and until the end of his life he continued to pray for them.

His love was quietly and humbly on full display. His service to others extended beyond formal missionary, stake and ward assignments. He volunteered in other capacities, including ministering to youth at a correctional facility and actively participated in a community teenage youth council.

For as much time as he spent ministering to others as part of his duty to church, his family never took a back seat. He always had time for his boys and especially for Kristine. As grandchildren arrived, he loved to interact with each of them individually on a loving, personal level as well.

He was a man of integrity and total commitment to his family and the Savior. He was a man of principle and high personal standards and self-discipline.

Towards the end of his life, he became limited physically, but he endured these trials patiently and with humility as he allowed others to serve him, with gratitude on his lips until the end of his life.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to neighbors, friends and the nurses and aides that served him from Atlas Homecare and Hospice, and Synergy Home Care in his final days.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Kristine Wilcox Hall, and his sons Andy Hall (Staci) and Mark Hall (Kimberly). Grandchildren: Lauren Pitt (Joseph), Whitney Robinson (Coby), Ashley Pierce (Jason), Cameron (Becca), Natalie Hall, Kirstyn Hall and Madelyn Hall. Great grandchildren: Lincoln Pitt (Lauren), and Tucker Pierce (Ashley). Siblings: Craig Hall (Lisa), Carol Barthlomew, Brent Hall (Janice), and Krissy Crocker (Kevin).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard (brother) and Kathy (sister).

An evening viewing will be held from 6:00--8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Orchard Stake Center, 3599 S. Orchard Drive, Bountiful, Utah. A short viewing will be held from 9:30--10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
