Charlene Downward was born on March 29, 1955, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on July 24, 2026, at her home in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Charlene was the daughter of Richard Morris Downward and Vivian Rae Bullough Downward.
Charlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in various capacities throughout her life.
Charlene was raised in Bountiful, Utah. and attended Bountiful High School.
She completed her higher education at Brigham Young University (Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education) and the University of Utah (MBA). After completing her education at BYU, Charlene served a mission in Birmingham, England, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Charlene worked in many capacities throughout her life: as a computer programmer, legal secretary, H & R Block, with The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints, and several credit unions. Her favorite job was taking care of Elsie.
Charlene was very talented and had many interests and hobbies. She loved crafting, quilting, traveling (especially with family), music (playing the organ and piano) and spending time with her family.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Eileen, her niece Kathleen Downward, and great nephews: Tyler Flinders and Logan Rindlisbacher. She is survived by her brother Mark (Sheri) and sister Coleen (David) and their families, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at the Unity Pass LDS Stake Center, 2137 E. Oquirrh Ranch Pkwy, Eagle Mountain, Utah, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 9:45--10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
We would like to express our thanks and love to all of her medical care team, Members of her Michigan Ward family, Members of the Bountiful 20th Ward family, and her current ward family, Overland 2nd Ward.
