Cathy Lynn Ruesch

Cathy Lynn Ruesch passed away at home on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at the age of 65. She is finally at peace after several years of suffering due to terminal liver disease.

Cathy was born on October 9, 1960 to parents Peggy A. Ramsdell Pruett and William M. Pruett. From 4 months old, Cathy was raised by her Grandparents, George and Barbara Ramsdell.

On April 23, 1988, she married and was sealed in the Los Angeles Temple to her eternal sweetheart, Steven Ruesch.

The greatest desires of her life were fullfilled when her children were born. Lindsay on February 13, 1992 and Tori on February 18, 1994. Cathy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a proselytizing missionary in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. She served in many callings in the church throughout her life, including a counselor in Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary Presidencies, Cub Scout Pack Committee Chair, and as a Primary President.

Cathy volunteered and worked in her children's elementary schools as an aide in the classroom, workroom, and playground. She served as PTA Vice President for a term as well as other positions over several years and was a member of the Community Council.

Cathy felt that her most important role was raising her children. She was able to stay at home when they were born by starting a small day care business in the home. In other times of her life, she worked as a Hair Dresser, Medical Office staff, Billing and Coding specialist for a Health Insurance company, but her favorite was as a School Crossing Guard for the Sandy City Police Department.

Those who knew her best have commented about her infectious laughter, about her vibrant personality, about her caring for others, about her listening ear, about her being a great lady, about her bright and beautiful light, about the many she has helped along the way, and mostly about her devoted love for family.

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband Steven Ruesch, son of Lester and Marian Bell Ruesch, her two children Lindsay Latsis (Nick) and Tori Ruesch, and many cousins and loving in-law family members.

Cathy's family would like to express deep gratitude for the many Doctors and Nurses who have provided such tremendous medical care thoughout the last several years and final moments. Thank you to University of Utah Health, Common Spirit Davis Hospital ICU, and Elevation Hospice.
