Beloved Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, Daughter, and Sister.
Carole Ann Harrison, born August 15, 1948, in Bountiful, Utah, passed away on December 27, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Carole was born to Robert Petersen and Ione Smith and was raised in Bountiful until junior high school, when her family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma. It was there that she met and fell in love with a Conoco gas station attendant named Jim. Their love story began simply and sincerely, leading to their marriage on June 17, 1966—a partnership that would endure through decades of shared life, laughter, and adventure.
Carole devoted her life to her family, placing their needs above all else. She worked outside the home in many roles throughout her life. Her career spanned many different roles including positions at Continental Oil, a medical office, hospital morgue, a pastry shop (where she learned to make her famous pies), the peanut lab at Oklahoma State University and many years working for the City of Stillwater. Then in 1990, because of a promise kept by Jim, the family moved to Kaysville, Utah so that she could be closer to her family. Her parents were two blocks away from where they bought their new home. After the move she worked as office manager for Alleman & Associates before her retirement in 2012. After retiring, Carole selflessly became a caregiver to her father. She had the privilege of accompanying him on his Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. to salute his service to our country. She fulfilled her caregiver role with love and devotion until his passing in 2016.
Carole found joy in gardening, camping, and traveling, especially cruising in the convertible alongside her husband Jim. She treasured time spent with family, creating memories rooted in warmth, humor, and steadfast love.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her sons James (Emily) and Jason (Emily); her grandchildren Cheyenne, Kaycee, Connor, Delaney, Virginia, Audrey, and Declan; and her cherished great-grandchild, Octavia. She is also survived by her brothers Gary (Kathleen), Rick (Vickie), and Mark (Erin).
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ione, and her eldest brother, Bobby.
Carole’s life was one of quiet strength, deep devotion, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
She was a faithful and lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings through the years but probably her most favorite was the time that she spent as a Young Women’s advisor. She cherished the girls and loved each one of them, most likely due to her not having her own daughters until her sons were married.
In her last days she told her son James that next Christmas she wanted to go down to Salt Lake as a family and everyone donate at the giving machines. This shows her testimony of service, selflessness and love for everyone. Therefore, in lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in her name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Humanitarian Aid program.
