1950 Carol 2022

Susan Carol Christensen

December 25, 1950 — September 26, 2022

Centerville, UT

Susan Carol Christensen, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many, peacefully passed away September 26, 2022, at the age of 71. Carol was born on December 25, 1950, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Jay Donald and Gwen Knudsen. Carol was the eldest of 4 sisters, and no brothers.  After her graduation from Skyline High School, Carol received a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and later in Elementary Education from the University of Utah. Carol had a genuine love for teaching and had an exceptional talent for teaching Math. Carol taught 5th and 6th grade in the Granite school district and Junior High math for many years in the Davis School District. During her 15 years of teaching, she had the opportunity to teach nieces, nephews, 2nd cousins, and even taught a young boy named Bryce Peterson, who later became her primary care physician.

Carol’s love for teaching did not stop with public school. Carol also found a talent and love for teaching crafts to young children. She lovingly became known as “Carol the Craft Grandma” as she used her spare time to offer free craft classes to anyone that would join her. Her family, friends, and neighbors jumped at the opportunity to spend a few hours learning how to do crafts with Grandma Carol, but nobody enjoyed it more than her own grandchildren.

Carol was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony in and of our Savior Jesus Christ. Carol served in many capacities over the years including Primary President in her mid-20’s, an ordinance worker in the Bountiful, UT Temple and for a time she served at the Centerville Employment Center.  Of her many callings, her favorite was the time she spent as an Activity Days Leader for the young women in her ward.

Carol married her Eternal Companion Calvin Hill Christensen on May 5, 1988 and was sealed to him nine weeks later in the Salt Lake City Temple. Carol was previously married to Brent Saetrum (father of her sons Jason and David Saetrum). Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and religiously gathered her loved ones for Sunday get-togethers. Although her health did not always allow her to be there in person as of late, she was always there in spirit.  Carol was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her loved ones.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Jay and Gwen Knudsen. She is survived by her husband Cal Christensen, Sisters Kathie (Bryant) Hatch, Karen (Kim) Conover, Linda (Trevor) Woolf, her Sister in Laws, ConnaLu (Michael) Drinkwater, Joan’L (Richard) Reeder, her children Jim (Chrissy) Christensen, Blake (Heidi) Christensen, Jason (Carie) Saetrum, Michelle (Jeff) Nielsen, David (Marsha) Saetrum, Kari (Josh) Lakin, her grandchildren Jimmy (Davin), Megan (Brady), Kyla, Zac, Aubrie (KJ), Jacie (Will), Ethan, Michaela, Colby, Zachary (Abbie), Gage, Caroline, Hazen, Cassie, Brooklyn, Cayden, Wil, Alex, Isaac, Tyler, Mars, Sasha, McKenzie, Chase, Matthew, Max and her great grandchildren Ryleigh, June, Rhett, and Kason and a large extended family.
