1952 Carol 2025

Carol Sessions Bawden

January 1, 1952 — September 22, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Carol Sessions Bawden passed away peacefully Monday, September 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on January 1, 1952, to Robert and LaRue Sessions. Carol grew up in Bountiful and lived in her family home until her death. She graduated from Viewmont High School in 1970. A few years later she met her sweetheart Doug Bawden dragging State Street in Salt Lake City with her friends. They dated just a short 7 months before they tied the knot at Shalamar in Bountiful, Utah, on March 13, 1974. Doug and Carol enjoyed spending time together and spent 51 wonderful years together. Carol was a hard worker and had several jobs in her lifetime including the Credit Bureau, TGA, ATP Insurance Agency and Motion Medical.

Carol was a joyful spirit whose love for life touched everyone she met. She had a deep passion for dancing, especially to the tunes of her jukebox in the basement. Even later in life, her love of movement led her to take tap lessons, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and grace. Carol also had a beautiful voice and a love for singing, often sharing songs and laughter with her friends. Her joy was contagious, and music was just one of the many ways she connected with others.

A lover of sports, Carol played volleyball and softball and was a member of a women’s golf league for many years. Whether on the field or the fairway, she brought her energy, competitiveness, and fun-loving nature to every game. Carol loved watching movies and narrating (talking) throughout, if you’ve ever watched a movie with her you understand. One of Carol’s favorite places to visit was the family property in Tabiona, Utah. Many treasured memories were made there -- gatherings filled with laughter, storytelling, and connection with those she held dear.

To know Carol was to be welcomed into her heart. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel like family from the very first moment they met her. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Carol found immense joy in being a grandmother. She loved cheering on her grandkids in everything they did, whether it was dancing, playing sports, singing, or acting. She was their biggest fan and constant supporter, always present with pride, unconditional love and many tears.

Throughout her life, Carol nurtured many lifelong friendships. She cherished time spent reminiscing about all the fun and laughter they shared over the years. The stories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Carol’s life was one of love, laughter, music, and deep connection. She will be remembered for her bright spirit, her unwavering love for her family and friends, and her ability to make every person feel valued and embraced.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Doug; children, Mickele (Pat) Mills, and Shane (April) Bawden, and adopted daughters Mindy (Josh) Varney and Emily (Carlos) Edmunds; thirteen grandchildren, Tre (Courtney) Ferguson, Jaxon and Hadleigh Bawden, Caleb, Ayden and Ryland Mills, Melica (Jay) Estes, Monica (Parker) Smith and Mavanie (Jami) Mills, Sammie, Averi and Mia Varney and Vince Edmunds; great-grandchildren, AJ (Katie), Brayden aka “Gunner”, Kaden, McKenna, Aspen, Dylan, Tybrus and Hayden. She also leaves behind two brothers, Randy Sessions and Brad (Carol) Sessions and one sister Ann Nielson along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad and great-granddaughter Lily Ann.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah. All who knew Carol are welcome to attend the service and luncheon afterward at the LDS Church located at 1847 West 2150 South in Woods Cross, Utah.
