Candace Kathryn Robinson (“Candy”), 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026, due to complications from Parkinson's. She was born on October 8, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Peter Wallace Williams and Kathryn Krejci Williams. Her mother later married Joseph Floyd Bell, who helped raise Candy and her sister Debbie and adopted them as his own.
She grew up in Torrance, California, and graduated from North High School in 1964. After high school, she moved with her family to Ventura, California. She graduated from Ventura College in 1966. She was also a graduate of Brigham Young University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
While attending BYU, Candy met the love of her life, John Robinson. They both majored in journalism and worked on the Daily Universe campus newspaper. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1969.
After graduation, she worked as a reporter for the Ventura County Star-Free Press. In 1981, the family, which now included three children, moved to Bountiful. While her kids were in school, she worked at the Viewmont High School cafeteria. She also worked as an associate librarian at the Davis County Library, South Branch, in Bountiful. She loved helping patrons find resources for school projects. There were many times someone would ask, “I’m looking for a book, but I can’t remember the title. I just remember it had a red cover.” She rose to the challenge and could usually find what they were looking for.
Candy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including in the Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society. She was also a visiting teacher. She loved the associations and many cherished friendships she had with the members of her ward.
Candy adored her family and especially loved being a grandma. She spent a lot of time with her grandkids while they were young and enjoyed baking with them and doing puzzles. She was a very devoted wife and mom. She also enjoyed reading, especially mysteries. She was a member of several bookclubs, one of which was formed in 1981 and is still active. She also had a passion for family history and formed connections with many relatives she discovered through her research.
She is survived by her husband, John Robinson; her children, Eric, Daniel, and Christina (Alan) Dee; as well as her two granddaughters, Alyssa and Elizabeth (“Libby”) Dee. She is also survived by her sister, Terri Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Debbie Meeks; her niece, Amy Meeks; and her daughter-in-law, Emily Merkley Robinson.
