Bruce Call Barber

Listen to Obituary

Bruce Call Barber, whose unwavering spirit and devotion to family shaped every day of his remarkable 84 years, passed away on July 5, 2026. Born on April 22, 1942, Bruce lived a life defined by steadfast reliability, genuine kindness, and a love for all things outdoors.

Bruce was a rock for those around him—level-headed and exacting, the kind of man you could set your watch by. He held fast to routine, carrying out each day with grace and purpose. His family always came first in his heart: he was a protector, an excellent provider, and no effort was spared in making sure those he loved felt the shelter of his care.

His story is interwoven with that of his beloved wife, Sharon Clegg. Their connection was instantaneous—love at first sight when Sharon was a senior in high school—a bond so strong that just two years later, they married.

Bruce’s legacy continues in the lives of his family: his dear wife Sharon; his sons Troy (Jolett), Brett (Karen), and Greg; and his daughters Shalese, and Jennifer (Charles Payan).

For 43 years, Bruce worked at R.C. Willey—a model of dedication so consistent that he never missed a single day. Colleagues counted on him for his thoroughness and dependability; no task was too small for his attention, and no responsibility was neglected. Beyond work, Bruce’s keen interest and boundless curiosity meant that if he liked something, he would master it. He read deeply and widely, delving into subjects until he understood them from every angle.

His passion for German Shorthair dogs brought him immense joy, particularly his pride in Alkali Joe, who rose to be a national champion in field trials—a testament to Bruce’s patience, discipline, and quiet confidence. Nature’s wild places called to Bruce year-round. He was an avid snowmobiler and even captured the challenging Whiskey Hill snowmobile championship climb, stunning onlookers with his daring and skill. In all seasons, Bruce found contentment under open skies, enjoying snowmobiling, four-wheeling, backpacking by horseback amidst the majesty of the Uintahs, golfing, tending lovingly to his yard and flowerbeds, and savoring the camaraderie and adventure of pheasant hunting. He spent a lot of time racing his three wheeler and four wheeler on the sand dunes!

A lover of fast cars, Bruce was forgiving of youthful recklessness—at least when it came to dented fenders. But leaving a door open? That, he simply could not abide. Quirks like these only added to his legend, prompting affectionate laughter from those who knew him best.

Bruce became a significant figure on the TikTok social media that his wife was part of. People soon became to love him as much, if not more, than Sharon for his willingness to support her work and his overall, engaging personality.

Bruce was much loved during family parties as he delighted in controlling the height of the pinata, creating laughter and challenge in equal measure. Bruce did the dishes and all the clean up while Sharon enjoyed the company through these gatherings.

Bruce loved God and taught his children to do the same. He and Sharon served a mission to Quincy, IL which they had the opportunity to work together in a very special environment, which brought them very close.

Above all, Bruce Call Barber will be remembered for his rock-solid nature, his generosity of spirit, and the simple, steadfast love that encircled his family and friends. He shaped a life filled with diligent work, unbridled adventure, and dependable care that those who loved him can now carry forward.
