Boyd Leon Peterson was born in Salina, UT, and grew up in Richfield, UT. He spent his teen years working in The Little Wonder Café owned by his parents where he perfected the art of washing dishes and peeling potatoes. He also loved playing basketball and dragging main street to show off his car to all the girls. As it happened, that’s exactly how he met Linda Bishop who became his high school sweetheart and would later become his wife of 59 years.
After high school graduation Boyd went to art school in California, where he developed his talent as an artist. He eventually left California and returned to Utah and more importantly returned to Linda. Boyd and Linda were soon married and moved to Bountiful, Utah, where they bought their dream home and raised their two children, their son, Rhett, and daughter, Robyn.
Boyd was loved and adored by his children, and later his 6 grandchildren who affectionately gave him the nickname “Cubby”. Boyd always filled his home with laughter and jokes, and his grandchildren are convinced he was the happiest person they knew.
Boyd had many talents and hobbies. He loved fixing up old cars and always had a car in the garage that he was working on. Boyd was an amazing artist and put his talent to good use as a graphic artist at Hill Air Force Base. His affinity for art reached beyond his career as he loved to paint, draw and doodle. He also enjoyed photography and was excellent at capturing and preserving family memories through photography.
Boyd and Linda have enjoyed a wonderful love story full of grand adventures. They traveled the world in their later years, and rarely a day passed they didn’t play a round of golf. Cubby was most at home on a golf course or a bike trail. He had endless outdoor adventures on his bike, from mountain trails, to St George paths or even biking the Oregon Coast.
Boyd brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We love you, Cubby!
