Blaine R Elmer

June 17, 1933 — July 17, 2023

Blaine R Elmer, 90, was born to Raymond & Zelda Prescott Elmer on June 17, 1933, in a ranch home of his Prescott grandparents in Hayden, Duchesne County, Utah. He and his siblings walked a minimum of 1/4 mile to catch the school bus to Ballard Elementary during the school year, and when it snowed, the trek to the highway was at least 1/2 mile. Blaine graduated from Altera High School in 1951. He was a Freshman at Weber Junior College in 1952, then joined the Air Force rather than be drafted. Stationed in the Philippines with tasks involving radar.

Upon completing his years in the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Reanon Todd, in Washington DC 1957, and married her in the Manti, Utah temple, on October 1st, of that same year.

Reanon and Blaine have 7 children. Mark T. Elmer 1959 (Annette), Karanell 1965 (Todd Rodgers), Elizabeth Elmer 1968 (fiance Dennis Champagne), Janalaine Elmer 1969, Ray David 1971 (Cherice) Heilesen, Nathan Jay Elmer 1973, Benjamin R. Elmer 1975 (Sarah).

He is survived by his sister Keitha, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Dad was an avid and voracious reader, he shared books with so many of us.  He worked far more than the average 2,000 hrs in a year and was forced to retire from the SLC Library System at the young age of 89. Loved gardening, and taught all of his offspring to can, preserve, and be prepared for "what if".  Devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and filled many callings including a senior mission with his wife Reanon in Indiana.
