With deep sadness but enduring love, the family of Billy Ernest Chadwell announces his passing. Billy's time with us came to an end on Monday, November 4th, 2024 at the age of 81, at the George E. Wahlen Ogden, Utah.
Billy was born April 2nd, 1943 in Boise, Idaho to his parents, Harold Albert (Bert) and Elma Pearl (nee Prindle) Chadwell, residents of Emmett, Idaho. After graduating from Emmett High School, Billy enlisted in the Army for 2 years and was stationed across the world, to include South Korea, Okinawa, and West Berlin, Germany. While stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, Billy met and married his beloved wife of 56 years, Peggy Lorraine Brown on September 13th, 1968.
In 1981, Billy retired from the Army at the rank of Staff Sergeant and returned to Idaho to study and complete his Bachelor's of Science at Boise State University, graduating with a degree in Computer Science in 1984. After graduation, he joined the Department of Defense as a civilian contractor and evenutally transferred to Utah, where he retired, after 17 years, in 2003.
Billy was dedicated to his family and always offered his love and support to his extended family members. He worked tirelessly to provide for his expanding family and used the land's resources to help sustain them by gardening, raising animals, and collecting fire wood from the mountains of Idaho. His hobbies included woodworking, reading western and historical war novels, play chess & other board games with his children, and researching his family history & genealogy.
With his wife, Billy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was well-known for bringing candy to share with the children of the ward. As part of their devotion, Billy and Peggy served a 1-year, full-time mission, working in the Family History Center in SLC, Utah. Their commitment to service with the Church continued, as they volunteered for two more part-time missions in Family History, one in SLC and another in Layton, Utah.
