1941 Bev 2025

Beverly Jean Miller Smedley Robinson

April 9, 1941 — May 4, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Beverly Jean Miller Smedley Robinson, peacefully returned to the loving embrace of our Savior, Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, on May 4, 2025. Age 84 at the time of her death, she had arrived into this world on April 9, 1941, in Brigham City, Utah at Cooley Memorial Hospital. She was born to Roy Lamont Miller and W. Juanita Egbert Miller. She was their only living child. Years after the passing of her father, she was able to share wonderful experiences with her Step-dad, Justin Shepard.

Bev married Merrill Smedley on July 21, 1961, in Salt Lake City, UT, but later they divorced. They had seven children together. Later in 1987, she married Kerry Robinson, but they later divorced as well.

She tried her best to be a studious student. She graduated from Bountiful High School and then attended Utah State University in Logan, UT. While at college she took various courses in Accounting and Business. She was hard-working, and she had a wealth of knowledge because of the many different and diverse jobs that she held throughout her life. The most recent were Auto Simulations as a Secretary/ Marketing Assistant. J.C. Penney as a Sales Clerk. The University of Utah as an Executive Secretary, then Phillips 66 Company, as an Administrative Assistant. Her final job before retiring at the age of 77 was for the Target Store in Centerville as a cashier. Bev had “her” customers. People who would patiently wait in her line so that they could chat with her while she rang them up. She loved getting to know people. She was a great example of being kind and accepting of others.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and this was a very important aspect of her life. She was actively participating in church activities from the time she was young. She served in a variety of callings throughout her life. And because she was an accomplished piano player, many of her callings allowed her the opportunity to show off that skill.

During her childhood she became familiar with farm life. But she also got a taste of living in a city suburb. She loved riding her bike up and down the block for hours at a time. She enjoyed dancing in her teen years, listening to records and doing her best to get the boys attention. Which really wasn’t hard for her, since her beauty inside and out was apparent. As an adult, her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Camping and sitting around a campfire with her family, while singing and conversing were an all-time favorite of hers. The tradition of going to Bear Lake for a reunion every year became established because of the many fond memories that we shared with her there. She became a talented seamstress. She was able to sew clothes, costumes and many other items for herself and her family. She did both crochet and knitting. She supported her kids and grandkids at sporting events. She loved to relax with a good book and she loved to do puzzles. But without question, she was the happiest when she was cuddling a baby, playing with a toddler and talking with her children and older grandchildren. It was her life’s ambition to let the members of her family know that she was interested in what they were doing and that they were loved.

Her children, all still living, in order of birth are daughters Dixie (David) Schaugaard, and Shellie (Steve) Martin. Son, Daren Merrill (Heather) Smedley, daughter Susan Ann (Ron) Stewart. Son, Eric Lamont (Tiffany) Smedley. Daughters Melissa Jean Miller, and Katrina Lyn (Eric) Mitchell.

Her grandchildren, all still living, in order of families are: Bryant (Jessica), Preston, Hunter and Kayla Schaugaard. Alta Martin (Gus Pacheco), Amber Ferguson, Colten Martin. Jonah, Annabelle, and London Smedley. Dakota and Rorie Stewart. Bracken, Tyson, Ashlee and Hailee Smedley. Tavin Miller. Lexia and Justin Johnson. Xander, Ricky, Evie and Travis Mitchell. (23 total)

Her great-grandchildren, all still living, are Zion Schaugaard, Oliver and Chelsea Pacheco. (3 total)
