Beverlie Sue Richey Bartholomew

March 28, 1944 — May 1, 2024

Beverlie Sue Richey Bartholomew, age 80, of Bountiful, UT, passed away May 1, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.

Beverlie was born March 28, 1944, to Ivan Richey and M. Frances Allison in Lincoln, NE. Ivan was killed during World War II when she was 18 months old and her mom married Edward Bingham who became her dad. Beverlie graduated from Cupertino High School in California in 1962.

Shortly before graduating, Beverlie met Mitchell Bartholomew in Fresno, CA. While they were dating, she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A year later, as the only members of the church in their families, they drove by themselves in their '55 Chevy to Los Angeles to the church's only operating temple in California and were sealed for time and all eternity. Beverlie and Mitch went on to have three children, Chris, John and Diana. Mitch and Beverlie celebrated their 60th anniversary last October.

Beverlie's first career was as a homemaker. One thing she really enjoyed was sewing and making clothes for her family. That makes for a lot of laughs now looking at old family pictures. After her youngest entered 1st grade, she started working part-time for the Physical Plant at Utah State University. She excelled at everything they gave her and she worked there until the Spring of 2004 when she retired.

Beverlie loved gardening, sewing, and clean romance and adventure novels. She also loved camping, traveling, and shopping. Two days after Mitch retired, they hitched up their trailer and spent nearly three months traveling through Alaska and back. She also enjoyed her cruise to Alaska a few years later. She was good at combining interests and read a lot on that cruise. She suffered graciously for many years with multiple medical problems. Because of them, she had to take an early retirement, but they never kept her from living life or enjoying her family.

Beverlie was preceded in death by her mother Fran, father Ivan, adoptive father Edward Bingham, and grandson Jared Alexander. She is survived by her husband Mitch, son Chris of Twin Falls, ID, son John (Debbie) of Highland, UT, daughter Diana (Travis) Alexander of Woods Cross, UT, 19 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, and her sister Judy Croom of Madera, CA.
