Betty Lois Irvin Tingey

July 31, 1941 — December 8, 2021

Betty Lois Irvin Tingey,80, of Farmington, Utah passed away the morning of December 8, 2021, at home surrounded by loved ones.  Since August 2020, she has lovingly been cared for by the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Inspiration Home Health and Hospice and her family.

Betty was born to Joseph Hazen Irvin and Lois Burnham on July 31, 1941, in Farmington, New Mexico.  As a teenager, she moved to Dolores Colorado with her parents.  She had fond memories fishing along the Dolores River in her backyard with her family.  While there she attended Dolores High School where she was homecoming queen, rodeo queen and a cheerleader.

Betty met her husband, Nolland, on a blind date and they were married for time and for all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on June 6, 1968 (53 years).

After graduating from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, Betty started her career working as a kindergarten and 3rd grade teacher.  After having her babies, she worked several jobs around the county.  She was a librarian at the Davis County Library spending some of her time driving the book mobile.  She worked in accounts payable for Davis County Public Works and ended her career working as the coordinator for Davis County Senior Services.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Betty enjoyed serving several years as the primary chorister and Ward Librarian in the Farmington Utah 3rd Ward.

Betty enjoyed in her free time researching her and her husband’s family history.  You would often find her in the Salt Lake City Family History Library taking pictures of microfilm or scanning through historical archives earnestly searching for her lost ancestors.

Betty was a very compassionate person and would do anything for her family.  She took an active role as a sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother.  You would often see her cheering on the side-lines during a sporting event and/or concert, driving miles to find the perfect camping spot or to visit family, and in the backyard building a tree house.

Betty’s memory will be kept alive by her husband Nolland; children Kevin, Teresa & husband Greg, JoAnna and Wesley; grandchildren Jarom, Melissa, Desiree, Avery, Spencer, Anna, Adelyn and Aliyah.  She was welcomed into heaven by her parents Joseph and Lois and sisters Darlene (Curg) and Carol (Lynn).

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM and the Old Rock Chapel, 272 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah.  A viewing will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah.  A viewing will also be prior to services on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.
