Betty Jo Ovard

May 2, 1943 — June 2, 2024

Salt Lake City, UT

Betty Jo Ovard, aged 81, passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2024 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 2nd, 1943, Betty grew up in the Bountiful and SLC area and moved to California when she was 17 where she stayed for many years - after spending her remaining years in Salt Lake City with her life partner of 30 years, LeAnn Bollschweiler.

Betty loved the theater and performing early in life. She acted in many different shows and productions with her friend Larry while she was living in California, entertaining all that crossed her path.

Later in life Betty enjoyed gardening and planting all the flowers in her and LeAnns beautifully landscaped yard. She and LeAnn hosted many spectacular parties at their home, where Betty could always be found manning the grill to feed their guests while cracking jokes and socializing.

Betty could often be found cruising around with friends and visitings many different places throughout her life.

She also loved jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, bingo, bird watching, the Green Bay Packers, the Ute Football Team, the U of U women's gymnastics, and of course her beloved electronic Yahtzee game.

She loved all of her puppies (her babies, as she called them) throughout her life, taking wonderful care of them. She was loved by all that met her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Anderson; her father, Boyd Charles Ovard; her step-father, Jens Howard Anderson; her brother, Kenneth Ovard; and her sister, Claudia Abbott. She is survived by her life partner, LeAnn Bollschweiler; her very dear friend, Larry Davis; her long time friend, Marty Woodruff; and her bonus family, Allen Quintana, Annie Hollenbeck, Katherine Quintana, and Michael Quintana.

A special thanks to A Plus Hospice for the care that Betty received, and a special thanks to her nurse, Stephanie.
