Biography

Together again – Benny Ingemann Hansen, our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather returned to his heavenly home and the arms of his beloved wife on Thursday, August 7, 2014. He was the youngest child of Ingeborg Marie Carlson and Jens Peder Hansen. He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on September 17, 1928. Upon first seeing him, his sister exclaimed, “what a big head!” Benny immigrated to Utah in 1949 where he met and married the love of his life, Jenny Pedersen. They were married in November of 1950, just months before Benny left to serve his new nation in the Korean War, as a soldier in the United States Army. Benny was baptized into the LDS church in 1960 and was soon called to serve as the Deacon’s Quorum Advisor in the Val Verda 3rd and later 4th Ward – callings that fostered relationships he cherished for the rest of his life. He and Jenny were sealed to their children, Ann Catherine, Benny Jr. And Carolyn, in the Salt Lake Temple on April 29, 1965. He remained a faithful member of the Church. Benny was known and loved for his sense of humor, and always had a joke to tell, even when he was not feeling well. After Jenny’s health started to fail, he lovingly cared for her, for years, until her death on June 6, 2014. His health started to fail just weeks before Jenny’s passing. It was difficult for him to lose his independence and to be in constant discomfort. He longed to be back with his love and passed peacefully away at his home in Brigham City, lovingly cared for by family. He is a former resident of Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Laverkin, and Hurricane, Utah.
Benny is survived by his three children, four granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren and his older brother and sister, Alfred I Hansen and Ruth I Nielsen. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and six siblings.
The family would like to thank the physicians and staff who cared for him so lovingly and patiently at Brigham City Community Hospital and thru CNS Hospice.
