Beelyn Moore

September 5, 1978 — May 9, 2026

Beelyn Hurihia Moore, 47, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 9, 2026, at her home in Woods Cross, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She courageously battled terminal cancer since 2017, facing every challenge with remarkable strength, faith, and grace.

Beelyn was born on September 5, 1978, in Hamilton, New Zealand, to David Richard Henry Atkinson and Jennifer Margaret Oliphant. At the age of two, her family moved to Kaeo, New Zealand, where she spent her early childhood. Around age four, her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Utah, where she continued to grow, learn, and form lifelong friendships.

She attended schools in the Bountiful, Utah area and completed her sophomore year at Bountiful High School before returning to New Zealand to finish her education at the Church College of New Zealand in Hamilton. After graduating, she returned to Utah, where she reconnected with many childhood friends, including Marvin Moore, who would later become her eternal companion. Their friendship grew into a deep and lasting love, and after Marvin returned from serving in the Washington D.C. North Mission, they were married and sealed in the Bountiful Utah Temple on July 14, 2001.

Much of Beelyn’s professional life was spent in the airline industry, where she worked for Continental Airlines, United Airlines, and later Delta Air Lines. She took several years away from her career to focus on raising her children, a role she cherished deeply. In her church service, she blessed many lives through her callings in Sunday School, Relief Society, and Primary. Her most beloved service was in the Young Women organization, where her warmth, testimony, and example left a lasting impact on the youth she mentored.

Beelyn was a woman of extraordinary talent and creativity. Deeply proud of her Maori heritage, she spent many years dancing, teaching, and sharing songs and art connected to her culture. Her performing group, Ngati Hiona, played a significant role in her upbringing and identity, and she loved sharing that heritage with others. She was also a gifted DIY enthusiast, reviving old furniture, transforming spaces, and breathing new life into anything she touched. Whether designing, demolishing, or rebuilding, she approached every project with vision and determination, often leading the charge and occasionally letting Marvin help. Her hands were always busy, her mind always creating, and her heart always giving.

Beelyn is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin; and their children—Kaia Aroha,Deion Kia Kaha, Taimana David, and Tiana Jenice—who were the joy and purpose of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Jennifer Atkinson; her sister, Melahn Atkinson (Talia); and her brother, Manasseh Atkinson, along with her Uncles and Aunties, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father,David Atkinson.

Beelyn’s love for the gospel of Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and her family. Her testimony guided her choices, strengthened her through trials, and shaped the home she and Marvin built together. She found joy in attending the temple, teaching her children about God’s plan, and sharing her faith with others. One of her greatest desires was for her children to know that their testimonies would be their strength throughout heir lives. Her legacy of faith, devotion, and discipleship will continue to bless generations.

She is our warrior, our Polynesian princess, our Queen Bee. She was the center of our family, our driving force. She balanced us and centered our lives, creating purpose and joy in our lives. She loved unconditionally and helped us feel the love of the Savior. We are all forever blessed to have known Beelyn Moore.

“E hara taku toa takitahi, Engari He toa takitini” was a Maori phrase that permeated our lives since Beelyn’s original diagnosis of cancer. It translates to “My strength is not the strength of one, it is the strength of many. Others strength carried her at times in her life, now her family will take her strength and courage with us to carry on and carry forward her legacy.
