Barry Martin Moore passed away on April 17, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after bravely fighting cancer. He was born on March 18, 1943, in New Britain, Connecticut, to Francis LeRoy Moore and Florence Gertrude Munson. When Barry was young, his family relocated to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah, where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Granger High School in 1961, where he served as senior class president, participated in football and track, and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Utah. He also became a Registered Medical Technologist. On January 22, 1965, he married Jeanne Marie Thiessen, with whom he had three children.
Barry co-owned Medical Drive Laboratory in Bountiful, Utah, for many years and was widely recognized throughout Davis County for his distinctive handlebar mustache, a trademark he proudly wore for most of his life. Following his retirement, Barry began working a few days a week in the laboratory at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City. He remained passionate about his work in the medical field, continuing until he reached the age of 80. His dedication and iconic mustache left a lasting impression on those around him.
An enthusiast of outdoor activities, Barry loved hunting, golfing, biking, gardening, and all dogs. He also had a passion for cars, Halloween, and college sports, being a dedicated University of Utah fan who never missed a Runnin' Utes sporting event.
Despite his busy life, Barry always found time to quietly assist others, listening to their needs and finding ways to help. He had a playful sense of humor and enjoyed joking and laughing with those around him. A hardworking man, he dedicated himself to providing for his family and giving them everything they needed.
Barry is survived by his wife, Jeanne T Moore, and their three children: Mindy (Scott) Eldredge, Amy Garlick, and Marty (Natalie) Moore. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom he adored.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the University of Utah Oncology Department, Emergency Room Department, Surgical and Medical Intensive Care Units, and all the medical professionals who provided exceptional care and support during Barry's illness. His legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
