Edward Clayne Arthur 76 passed away on May 14th, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, and the comfort of his wife's touch as she held his hand. A devoted husband, proud father and faithful servant of the lord Clayne lived a life marked by generosity, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to his faith and those he loved.
Born on July 31st, 1949, to Edward Eldredge Arthur and Audrey Marie Arthur, he was the 4th child of 8 siblings. He grew up in the Sugarhouse area. Clayne was always close to his siblings growing up and that never changed; he cared deeply for each one of them.
As a young child he enjoyed playing little league baseball and received his Eagle Scout Award at the age of 13.
Clayne attended Highland high school, where he was an accomplished clarinet player and excelled in auto mechanics class his senior year graduating in 1967 with a passion to pursue Engineering.
He then completed two years of college at BYU before he was called to serve on his LDS mission in Ontario Quebec Canada (French Speaking) from 1970 to 1972. After returning home from his mission Clayne continued his education at the University of Utah graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree. Clayne loved being an Engineer; his career lasted for over 43 years and took him all over the country.
Clayne married the love of his life Suzanne Beverley Jorgensen on August 22, 1973, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They have loved and enjoyed 52 beautiful years together. Clayne loved and cherished his wife Suzanne, they did everything together, enjoying life to the fullest. They always made new friends wherever they went.
One of his best moments was surprising her with a piano for Christmas, and later surprising her with another when they moved to Maryland. He really enjoyed sharing this story and bragging about all the “get out of the doghouse free” cards he received.
Clayne and Suzanne moved to California in 1976 for Clayne's first job. This is where they started a family, first with their son Ryan born on March 21st, 1976, and later their daughter Rebecca born April 10th, 1978. They enjoyed 10 wonderful years living in the sunny state of California. In 1983 the family returned to Utah where they moved into their family home in Centerville.
Clayne loved being a father to Ryan and Rebecca even though it wasn't always easy he never gave up on them. He was always there to give support, understanding, and words of wisdom with a father’s love. Clayne was also a proud grandpa to 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Clayne was the kind of person everyone could count on, he was selfless in every way. Even though he suffered from arthritis for most of his life, he never complained and always put the needs of others before his own. Clayne had a great sense of humor, even for an engineer. He always loved telling a good story and making people laugh.
He was a man of faith first and loved sharing his testimony with others. His kindness and generosity have touched so many lives; his absence will be deeply felt by everyone who knows him.
Clayne is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Audrey Arthur, older brother Edward Bowers Arthur, and sisters Kaye Arthur and Beverly Wilhelm.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne, his children Ryan Arthur (Lindsey Arthur) and Rebecca Maw (Tony Moaremoff), Siblings Karen Arthur, Ron Arthur (Lorrie Ann), Rob Arthur, and Julie Olson (Dennis).
