Arthur (Art) Dale Dobbe, a loving husband, devoted father and talented craftsman, passed away October 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his family after a long hard-fought battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). While his wit and presence will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing his reunion with loved ones was incredible.
Art was born on December 20, 1951, to Frank Albin and Barbara Jeanne Dobbe in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the second of four children: two boys and two girls Chuck, Becky and Marsha. The family moved to Bonner Springs, Kansas and made lots of childhood memories during their time there. Art’s family then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where Art attended his schooling years. They spent many summer hours traveling back and forth between Kansas and Idaho in the family station wagon. Art was the life of the party and jokester. He loved to ski, play tennis, fish and of course his VW bus. His love for the Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks ran deep; he was a true fan to the very end.
Art graduated from Skyline High School in 1970. His senior year of high school he met the love of his life and soulmate Denise Swednsen. She asked him to a girl’s choice dance, and they began their love story. During their courting, Art was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He later converted and was baptized; the church became a big part of his life and provided him many opportunities to serve and become closer to his savior. Art and Denise married on August 4, 1972, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple. Art began his education in Architecture at ISU and later transferred to the U of U in Salt Lake City, Utah. After their time in Salt Lake, they moved back to Idaho Falls to begin their family.
Art and Denise were blessed with 6 children, Molly, Melissa, Brian, Amy, Kimberly and the caboose Staci. Art worked as a cabinet maker and was a master woodworker. His talent and dedication to his work and family was his greatest joy. He taught his children the value of hard work and dedication to each other and family. Some of his biggest accomplishments were designing and building the Rigby, Idaho dome house with his father and being a part of building the Conference Center especially helping with woodwork of the pulpit. The family called the dome home until they were transferred to Centerville, Utah for work. There Art and Denise raised their children and grandchildren. Art loved to garden and was a teacher of the art to his family. He also loved to travel, and the sun and sand was his happy place with his wife, children and grandchildren in tow. Art and Denise moved from their family home to St. George, Utah soon after Art’s health diagnosis. There he and Denise made a beautiful new home and friendships that they both cherish.
Art is survived by his loving wife and best friend Denise Dobbe; their children Molly (Bryan), Melissa (Bobby), Brian, Amy (Richard), Kim (Azu), Staci (Simon) 18 grandchildren, 2 sisters Becky and Marsha. Art was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Barbara, brother Chuck, grandson Cayden and nephew Evan.
The family extends sincere thanks to the medical professionals at the University of Utah Pulmonary Medicine department and the compassionate care provided by Dixie Home Health and Hospice.
