Arnold Nef

Arnold passed away among the loving support of his family on September 22, 2026, due to natural causes. He was born on February 9, 1937, to Emil Nef and Eva Lenora Johnson, being the youngest of 8 children. He was raised within the farming community of Rexburg Idaho. Despite his mother passing away when he was 4 years old, he had many fond memories growing up farming among a large family that all worked together to support their single father.

Arnold graduated from Madison High School in 1955. He was exceptionally talented in sports and lettered in track, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed participating in choir and several plays. He took great pride and joy in his sons and grandchildren sharing similar interests in sports and music.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Central States Mission, USA in 1957. It was while on his mission that his father unexpectedly passed away. Arnold demonstrated tremendous faith by finishing his mission despite this setback. His father’s new wife, Zella, was exceptionally attentive to Arnold at this time. He maintained a close relationship with her throughout her life.

Arnold met his wife, Leta Clements, while attending college in Idaho. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 11,1960. He later graduated from BYU with a degree in finance in 1962. He started his career working for Thiokol as an Accounting Clerk and then at Hill Air Force Base from 1966 until his retirement. In 1974 his job offered him an assignment in Germany. He eagerly accepted the opportunity, packed up his 4 boys and pregnant wife, and thoroughly enjoyed five years living abroad. His family shares many great memories living abroad.

Arnold stayed active throughout his life. Golf, temple work, and travel were his preferred ways to spend his time. In retirement he traveled to many places, including living part-time in St George Utah so he could keep up his 3 days a week golf schedule. He also enjoyed motorcycle rides, biking, snowmobiling, and running; he impressively ran his last half marathon at the age of 70. He especially enjoyed activities he could participate in with his five sons as they were his favorite people to spend time with.

Arnold and Leta spent 10 years as Service Missionaries for the church. They enjoyed volunteering for 2 years with the Salt Lake City Council of Arts.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Leta, five sons; Edward (Victoria), Douglas (Linda), Andrew (Danielle), Richard (Carol) Scott (Mary Ann), nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a large extended family.

He is preceded in death by many beloved family members that eagerly greeted him upon his passing.

The family would like to thank the staff at Whisper Cove, his hospice team, and branch members that worked hard towards ensuring he had optimal quality care during his final season of life.

Viewing services will be held on September 27, 2026, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N Main Street Farmington, Utah from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Funeral Services will be held at the Havenwood Chapel, 235 N Bonneville Lane, Kaysville, Utah on September 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM with a viewing prior to the services from 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

Interment at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 25 E Center Street Kaysville Utah.
