1935 Jayne 2025

Arlene Jayne Nault Cady

May 13, 1935 — March 29, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Arlene Jayne Cady (Nault), age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 29, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah. Born on May 13, 1935, in Claremont, Sullivan, New Hampshire, she lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and a deep love for her family and faith.

Jayne was the beloved wife of George Cady, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership and service. Though George preceded her in death, their bond remained a guiding force throughout her life. Together, they served wherever duty called—Jayne standing faithfully beside him through every military and church assignment. Her loyalty and resilience were an undeniable part of her character.

A devoted mother to five children—Robert, Cynthia, Jennifer, Sandra, and Michael—Jayne poured her heart into raising her family with patience, wisdom, and compassion. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where curiosity was encouraged and kindness was the rule.

Jayne had a lifelong love for learning and problem-solving. She found joy in gardening, sewing, reading, working puzzles, exploring genealogy, and fixing things around the house. She approached each task with determination and care, whether learning to tailor clothes to make suits and wedding dresses, learning to fix cars, making a raised platform for George's recliner, rewiring parts of the house, fixing plumbing, or growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Everything she learned was aimed at improving her family's life.

Her faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was central to her life. Jayne held a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. Alongside George, she served a couple’s mission that reflected their shared commitment to service and spiritual growth. She and George were baptized as a married couple with two children, and so George never had the opportunity to serve a mission as a youth. A couple's genealogy mission was a way to serve a mission and further their goals in genealogy.

Those who knew Jayne remember her as kind-hearted and non-judgmental—a woman who would rather err on the side of caring. She was brave in the face of challenges, strong when others leaned on her strength, curious about the world around her and willing to learn things even in her later life like speaking Spanish and becoming computer literate to further her genealogy work as well as relationships with family.

Jayne was patient with friends and family alike, and deeply dedicated to those she loved. She was a powerful woman who may never have fully realized the profound impact she had on those around her.

A private family memorial honoring Jayne's life will be held in May.

She is survived by all five of her children, 16 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Her memory brings comfort to all who knew her and will continue to inspire acts of love and quiet strength in the lives she touched.
