Ann Newbold passed away on March 11, 2026, after a long battle with chronic symptoms related to congestive heart disease. She was 76 years old. Ann is the third of six children born to Claude Douglas Kirkland and Irene Argyle. She lived most of her early life in Centerville, UT, middle life in Bountiful, UT raising her three boys, and in her later years St. George, UT - where she admired the scenery, wildlife, and nature of that area.
Ann loved learning about the world around her, being curious by nature. Her interests included politics, law, astronomy, astrology, photography, reading, music, native American culture, geology, and anything out in nature. Ann lived her life looking for adventure around every corner. This curiosity was passed on from her parents. The family traveled on many vacations throughout the 50’s and 60’s, visiting many states from coast to coast. She and her loving companion, Mark, travelled nearly 250,000 miles in an approximate 12-year period of time in their Toyota 4-runner, most of it offroad and to places most people never venture or see. Together they loved the beauty of nature. In 1996 she earned a B.S. degree from the University of Utah, followed by a graduate certificate in gerontology in 1998. She spent many years managing an office for a law firm, while also acting as a paralegal on many cases that involved older and senior clients.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Rickey Newbold, sister Claudia Mickelsen, brothers Mark Kirkland and Boyd Kirkland, and one of her three sons Chad Petersen. She is survived in death by her loving companion Mark McLachlan, brother Brent Kirkland, sister Marilyn Castellano, and two sons Shawn Petersen and Jesse Kojima.
At her request, a simple one-hour graveside service and dedication will occur at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Centerville City Cemetery, 650 East 400 South, Centerville, Utah 84014.
